Mian Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman, Minister of State for education and interior
affairs has said that the elimination of terrorism, economic stability, Energy
and Education are among the top four priorities of the Government, to put
Pakistan on the track of development. Due to focus on these four affairs not
only the dignity of the nation has elevated on national and international level
but Pakistan has achieved solidarity and stability. On all these matters the
Government is taking every sector of the country on board either it is operation
Zarb-e-Azab or restoration of peace in Karachi. This has been due to the
sacrifices of our brave soldiers for keeping peace in the country and this is
the reason that our citizens are living with the sense of security. The
Minister of State expressed these views this morning in his address in the
distribution ceremony of cash prizes and commendable certificates among the
position holders of BA, BSc and BCom examinations of 2015. He said that for the
year 2013 the Government had allocated 40 billion rupees for higher education
sector and doubled the amount to 80 billion rupees in just two years. He said
that the IUB is the most important university of the region. Recently a mega
project of 850 million rupees has been approved by the federal Government which
is unique in the history of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and will prove
to be a significant advancement in the development. A new building of
Management Science Faculty, two hostels for 500 students each and a modern
Chemistry lab will be constructed through these project and ten faculty members
would be given scholarship to get higher education abroad. Engr Mian Muhammad
Baligh-ur-Rehman admired the steps taken by Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice
Chancellor for the imposition of IUB development and academic excellence. He
said that the Government supports his efforts taken for quality education. On
this occasion Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq said that during past few month solid
measures have been taken to setup high quality of education in all departments
of IUB due to which the university will achieve better position in a very short
period. The vacant seats of Senate, Syndicate and selection board have been
filled. The delayed forty six thousand applications’ scrutiny, written test and
interviews are going on. Similarly 1,47,000 degrees of university had been
withheld and know with a kind approval Governor Punjab/Chancellor Honorable
Rafique Rajwana the release of pending degrees has become possible. Prof Dr
Qaiser Mushtaq said that he believes in such research that may benefit common
man and the success on the research of cotton is a sequence of same. All the
buildings of IUB are being made comfortable for the special students. He
further said that up till now 3044 students have benefited from Prime Minister’s
Laptop scheme and an amount of Rs.120 million has been distributed among 7178
students under Prime Minister Fee Reimbursement scheme. Similarly 1113 students
have received 132 million under Chief Minister’s PEEF Scholarship Scheme.
Recently 5 students of IUB getting position in BA, BSc and BCom examination
2014 were sent to Europe by Chief Minister Punjab and within next few days 45
PEEF scholars will be guest at Punjab House Murree. He thanked Engr Mian
Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman, Minister of state for Education and interior
minister to have graced the occasion. On this occasion the Minister of State
distributed cash prizes and certificates among the position holders. In BA
examination Ayesha Mushtaq of Govt. Degree College Liaqatpur stood first, Amna
Khadim of Govt. Degree College Khanpur second and Haneen Muhammad of Govt.
Degree College Dubai Mahal Road Bahawalpur got third position while in BSc
Muhammad Jahangir of Iqra College Sadiqabad claimed first position, Umair Ali
of Minchinabad second and Mehwish Tanveer of Punjab College Rahim Yar Khan was
declared third. In BCom examination Afzala Khan Punjab College of Commerce
Rahim Yar Khan was first, Komal Nayab of Allama Iqbal College of Commerce
Bahawalpur got second and Farwa Seed Punjab College of Commerce Rahim Yar Khan
obtained third position.
Dignitaries, faculty
members, administrative officers and students participated in the ceremony in a
large number.
