Minister of State
Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman attended the Inaugural Session of workshop for
the master trainers on assessment at FBISE
Islamabad(PR)Minister
of State congratulated the chairman FBISE Dr. Ikram and his team for conducting
this valuable workshop and specially thanked Prof Norman Reeds from university
of Glasgow to participate in the workshop. He said that one could not deny the
importance of training of the master trainers. They have an important role to
play in building the base of a sound educational system.
We know
that there are different systems of education as well as the teaching methods
in Pakistan, stated the Minister. We see that a school teacher teaches
conceptual learning to a Cambridge student while teaching the rote learning
method to a matriculation student. And therefore we see a stark difference
between the two students of two different systems which is very unfortunate, he
lamented. We need to remove this difference in our teaching methods in order to
secure the future of our students. Change cannot come in a day, to bring a
change we all need to work together while sharing good practices with each
other regardless of anything else because education is our collective
responsibility. And I am happy to see representation of all boards across
Pakistan here today, said the Minister.
Minister
of State said that we should not expect much from teachers if we don’t train
them and pay them well. Funding is very important in this regard and therefore
Government of Pakistan gave Rs. 50 million for this project and we tend to
utilize our own recourses as well to make this project more viable and
successful.
State
Minister CADD Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Prof Reeds also shared their
thoughts on the occasion. Prof Reeds said that curriculum should be developed
according to the country’s own needs without imitating curriculum of any other
country. Further he said that he is glad to see such dynamism, commitment and
devotion towards education here in Pakistan. Dr. Tariq said that both the
ministries (CADD and Ministry of Federal Education) are striving for the
betterment of education and therefore they are one. He said he is glad to see
representation of 24 boards out of 28 boards all over Pakistan here today.
Further he added that basic issue in our country is incompetence, we didn’t
give a proper atmosphere to our children to nurture their minds and therefore
it is now our responsibility to give them quality education.
Event
was attended by Federal Secretary Education, joint Secretary Education,
officials of FBISE and other departments of the Federal Education Ministry.
