BAHAWALPUR(PR)Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Dr. Ehsan Sadiq has
maintained that effective policing has witnessed the lowest incidence of murder
crimes during the last 18 months as compare to the previous 7 years, therefore
police officers and officials should maximize their efforts to further curb the
incidence of criminality to turn the vision of crime free society into
practical reality. He made these remarks while presiding over a high-level
video link conference to review the undergoing process of investigation of
murder crimes in the 16 police circles of Bahawalpur region at his conference
room.
"As many as 122 murders in the first 6 months of
2016 and 342 in the year of 2015 were committed in Bahawalpur region which is
the lowest murder rate in this period as compare to the preceding 7 years in Bahawalpur
region", Regional Police Officer Dr. Ehsan Sadiq maintained. He said that this
marked reduction in heinous incidence of crime is an appreciative achievement
of the police officers and officials. However, the concerned officers and
officials should further focused their efforts and energies to keep this
momentum of low trajectory of crime incidence through sustained and effective
community policing in their respective jurisdiction, He underlined.
The meeting gave a detailed presentation pertaining to
the number of murders committed ranging from the current year 2016 to 2008. The
presentation maintained that from 2008 to 2016 the number of murders committed
include: - 402 murders in year 2008; 423 in year 2009; 483 in year 2010; 476 in
year 2011; 479 in year 2012; 515 in year 2013 and 485 in year 2014.
The presentation highlights that the highest number of
murders were committed in the year 2013 which stands at 515 which is followed
by the quantum of murder which numbered 485 which were committed in the year
2014.
The meeting was apprised of that the lowest incidence
of murder has been registered in the year 2015 while the current trend of
incidence of murder in the first 6 months also indicates that effective
policing has managed to scale down this heinous crime.
The investigation officers briefed the meeting that
out of 425 registered murder cases in the last 18 months, the challans of 214
cases have been completed and submitted to the relevant courts while 57 cases
were cancelled and 154 cases are under investigation. Similarly, after the
operationlization of homicide unit in Bahawalpur region as many as 218 murders
were committed during the last 8 months; the investigating officers have
completed the challans of 83 cases and submitted these challans to the relevant
courts while 111 cases are under investigation and 24 cases are cancelled.
While addressing the meeting Regional Police Officer
Dr. Ehsan Sadiq called upon the investigation officers to fully mobilize the
services of Punjab Forensic Science Agency to stream-line the investigation
process on the modern scientific lines. He further directed to accelerate the
investigation process both to arrest the accused involved in these cases and to
complete the under investigation cases.

a 5-day hands-on training workshop on “Isolation and Quarantine Response
Strategies for Biological Disease Outbreak” at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The training
was sponsored and organized by Center for Agriculture, Food Security &
Preparedness and Institute of Agriculture, University of Tennessee USA. The
participants were apprised of zoonotic diseases associated with domestic
animals and wildlife that pose a threat to human communities. The training will
help the participants to handle and control major epidemics in the communities
of Cholistan desert, Bahawalpur.

This was stated by MNA Syed Ali Hassan Gillani while presiding over a high
level meeting to review the progress of relevant schemes and law & order
situation in district Bahawalpur. The meeting was attended by DCO Dr. Ehtisham
Anwer Mahaar; MPA Khalid Mahmood Jajja; MPA Mian Shoaib Awaisi; Chairman Saaf
Pani company Samiullah Chaudhry; Mian Shahid Iqbal; EDOs; TMOs and other
officers and officials of the concerned departments.
The meeting
was briefed regarding the progress of developmental schemes in the fiscal year
2015-16 which include: - the development schemes pertain to: - social sector
and infrastructure sectors. The meeting was also apprised of different measures
taken by the law and enforcement agencies to ensure the supremacy of law and to
extend security cover in all the 5 tehsils of district Bahawalpur.
The meeting
expressed concerned over the delay of various development schemes of MEPCO.
Representative of MEPCO assured the meeting that all available resources are
being mobilized to accelerate the developmental work on the MEPCO schemes.

Ramzan. This was stated by MNA Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti while talking to
consumers during her surprise visit at Ramzan Bazar railway road.
She went to different stalls of kitchen items; soft
drinks; vegetables; fruits; meat and chicken. MNA Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti
checked both the quality of the food stuff and the implementation of
concessionary price regime framed by Punjab Government.
Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti while talking to consumers
at Ramzan Bazar informed them that Chief Minister Punjab has further subsidize
both gram pulse and gram flour to Rs. 10 per Kg which has lowered the price of
these 2 items to Rs. 20 per Kg as compare to the prevailing market rates. She
maintained that this deduction in prices of these 2 items is an ample proof of
Chief Minister Punjab's dedication and commitment to extend economic relief by

300 raids to check the menace of profiteering and has imposed a fine to the
tune of Rs. 1 lakh and 50 thousand upon the violators of price control act in 5
tehsils of district Bahawalpur. This was stated by DCO Dr. Ehtisham Anwer
Mahaar while talking to the consumers during a visit at Ramzan Bazar railway
station road, Bahawlpur city.
DCO Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar maintained that both
price control magistrates and Assistant commissioners in all the 5 tehsils of
the district Bahawalpur are keenly focusing their attention to ensure the
implementation of Price control act to ensure the smooth supply of edibles to
the consumers in the holy month of Ramzan.
"Out of total 300 raids in 5 tehsils of
Bahawalpur include: - 120 raids conducted by Assistant Commissioner City Rao
Tasleem Akhter; imposed fine Rs. 72 thousand; lodge 4 FIRs and 2 violators got
arrested. 57 raids conducted by Assistant Commissioner Hasilpur Waseem Anwer
Khan and imposed fine Rs. 15 thousand. 53 raids were conducted by Assistant
Commissioner Ahmadpur East Rana Amjad Ali and imposed fine Rs. 25 thousand and
7 hundred. 40 raids were conducted by Assistant Commissioner Yazman Shakil
Ahmad and imposed fine Rs. 14 thousand and 5 hundred. 18 raids were conducted
by Assistant Commissioner Husnain Khalid Sanpaal in tehsil Sadar Bahawalpur and
imposed fine Rs. 3 thousand. Similarly, Assistant Commissioner Khairpur
Tamewali Jam Aftab Hussain imposed a fine to the tune of Rs. 12 thousand in
tehsil Khairpur Tamewali", DCO maintained.

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar has directed
the concerned authorities of Bahawal Victoria Hospital to mobilize all
available resources to ensure best medical cover to the patients. He issued
these directions during a surprise visit of Bahawal Victoria Hospital, here, on
Sunday. Commissioner visited medical and surgical wards; operation theaters;
I.C.U; Pediatrics ward; department of radiology; nephrology; cardiac care unit
and accident emergency departments. He also sought a detailed report from high
ups of the hospital about the defective and faulty medical equipment and
machinery of different wards and departments in the hospital. He thoroughly
checked the different measures under taken by the medical and paramedical staff
regarding the treatment of the patients admitted in different wards and
departments of the hospital. He went to the beds of the patients admitted in
different wards and departments and inquired of the quality of healthcare and
medical treatment provided to them by the concerned medical staff. He inquired
of their health and inquired about the provision of free medicine to the
patients. On this occasion one patient complained to the Commissioner that he
has purchased medicine by spending money. The Commissioner took prompt action
and directed the concerned authorities of the hospital to immediately repay the
amount spent by the concerned patient for buying medicine from the open market.
He directed the hospital authorities to provide all medicines to the patients
to ensure the hundred percent attendance and presence of medical and
paramedical staff for effective and smooth functioning of extending healthcare
and medical treatment to the patients.
During his visit the Commissioner also inspected the
operational status of the functioning of air conditioning system of different
wards and departments to provide comfortable and decent environment to the
patients. The hospital authorities briefed the commissioner that to fully
operationalize the air conditioning system installation process was rapidly being
done and most of the wards and departments air conditioning system has already
being energized and the air conditioning system would be fully operationlized
very soon.
Commissioner Bahawalpur directed the concerned
authorities to expedite the ongoing air conditioning installation process and
to complete it in the shortest possible time.
Commissioner Bahawalpur expressed dissatisfaction over
the poor sanitation condition in the hospital and directed to the concerned
authorities to take immediate steps to keep hospital clean and in good hygienic
condition. He was accompanied by Additional Commissioner Saqib Ali Ateel;
Director Emergency Dr. Aamir and District Information Officer Nauman Masood
Khan.

Principals of Medical Colleges have been directed to improve the managerial
issues, maintain discipline, ensure presence of doctors, nurses, cleanliness
and functioning of biomedical equipment in their attached teaching hospitals
within a month. Government, for the first time has allocated Rs. 24 billion for
specialized healthcare and medical education and all the concerned officers
have to work hard to achieve the targets fixed by the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad
Shehbaz Sharif.
This was stated
by the Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Punjab
Najam Ahmed Shah while addressing a meeting of All the Principals of Public
Sector Medical Colleges held under the chairmanship of the Advisor to the Chief
Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique at Civil Secretariat, here on Sunday.
Besides, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University, Principals of all the
Medical Colleges of Punjab attended the meeting. Special Secretary Specialized
Healthcare and Medical Education Dr. Sajid Mehmood Chohan, Addl. Secretary Technical
Dr. Salman Shahid and DS Medical Education Dr. Nasir Shakir were also present
in the meeting. Najam Ahmed Shah said that government has also issued
instructions to the divisional commissioners to pay surprise visits to the
hospitals to check the performance of these institutions. He warned that zero
tolerance policy will be adopted in the matters of hospitals’ working. Najam
Shah said as head of the institution it is the responsibility of the Principal
to monitor the administrative affairs of the attached teaching hospital and
rectify the issues". He directed that special attention should be paid to
improve the working of Emergency Department of the hospitals, cleanliness and
hygiene maintained in the wards, toilets and other places, presence of doctors,
nurses in the wards also be ensured. He directed that all the biomedical
equipment must be in working condition. Secretary SH&ME further said that
his office is ready to helping out them. He observed that these institutions
and designations given respect and honour to all of us in the society and we
should work hard for the betterment of common man. He said that public service
demands sacrifices and the officers should execute their duties with dedication
and considering it as full time job. Kh. Salman Rafique said that though the
people attached to the health profession are doing lot of work but there is a
need to perform our duties and administrative responsibilities on a fast track.
He said that management issues should be resolved on priority basis for
improving working and performance of the teaching hospitals and this is not a
part time job. Khawaja Salman Rafique observed that we have to leave
traditional lethargic style and adopt habit of hardworking with professional
zeal.
AHSAN IQBAL SUPPORTS TO
RESOLVE SOUTH CHINA SEA ISSUE

Minister and Deputy Secretary General PML-N Ahsan Iqbal has
supported relevant disputes over the South China Sea and said that it should be
peacefully resolved through consultation and negotiations in accordance with
bilateral agreements and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South
China Sea (DOC) by parties directly concerned. He said that both sides opposed
any imposition of unilateral will on others. Ahsan Iqbal further said
that Pakistan Muslim League-N supports that country outside the region should
fully respect efforts made by China and the ASEAN countries to safeguard peace
and stability in the South China Sea and play a constructive role to this end.
