LAHORE(PR)Punjab Education
Foundation (PEF) has equitably provided free quality educational facilities to
the children of low income families at their doorsteps so that they may remain
safe from transport problems arising due to lack of resources.
MD PEF Tariq Mahmood
said this while presiding over the weekly coordination meeting of program
directors at his office on Thursday. Program directors, along with relevant
officers of different departments, attended the meeting.
The meeting dilated
upon the state of school education in the province and the strong role played
by the foundation in strengthening the private sector through different public
private partnership interventions. It was agreed upon that educational partnership
with PEF has benefited the low cost schools to improve their academic
standards. This has also benefited the students to get education free of cost and excel in life through it.
The participants said
that PEF’s role in the success of three year long ‘Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab’
is very pivotal as it has made the poor to make education their first priority of their children.
More than two million students in PEF partner schools are valuable asset of the
society.
MD PEF Tariq Mahmood
said that special emphasis is laid on enhancing teaching skills of the
teachers. School partners are also sensitized about anti-dengue measures so
that the students and their teachers could remain safe from this disease. As a
result of strong support provided by the foundation, partner schools are
showing good results in different exams, he added.

Electricity shut-down schedule
BAHAWALPUR(PR)Executive engineer operation MEPCO city Bahawalpur
division has issued electricity shut-down schedule on account of repair and
maintenance of the system.
According to shut-down schedule the supply of
electricity would remain suspended from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM on July 21st at
Abbasia Sub division; Baghdad Sub division and Satellite town sub division,
while supply of electricity at sub division Yazman would remain suspended from
7:30 Am to 1:30 PM on July 23rd.
The feeders of Abbasia; Baghdad and Satellite sub
divisions include: - Azadi feeder of Abbasia sub division; Al-Azhar Taxtile
mills feeder Badar Shair and Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Dera Bakha feeder of
Baghdad sub division and the Darbar Palace feeder of Satellite town sub
division. Similarly the feeders which fall under Yazman sub division include: -
Kud wala feeder; Tail wala feeder; City II feeder; Channan peer feeder and City
I feeder.

established a polling station at government Abbasia higher secondary school
model town 'A' Bahawalpur for the LA-xxx legislative assembly of Azad Jamu and
Kashmir for general elections 2016.
The polling station has 3 polling booths in total
which include:- 2 for male and 1 for female. The polling will start at 6:00 AM
and would continue till 5:00 PM, the district election commissioner Bahawalpur
said.

LAHORE(PR)Punjab government has started preparation to celebrate independence day on August 14 in a befitting manner. Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a steering committee headed by Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed which will submit its report within seven days to Chief Minister. On Independence Day speech and written competitions, sports and seminars would be conducted at union councils, tehsils, district and provincial level to highlight the importance of the day. There would be functions of recitation of national anthem, national flag hoisting, competitions of paintings and national songs, poetry at different cities throughout the province where in the heroes of struggle for Pakistan would be paid rich tributes. Every district would prepare its own float reflecting various colours of culture, history and love for our heroes of independence. Moreover, commendatory certificates would also be given at district level to the persons shining in different fields of life. Various departments of Punjab government would also sensitize the message about different development schemes and people friendly steps and policies of present government.
This
was informed by Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan in a
meeting held in connection with the preparation of independence day,
here today. The meeting was attended by Punjab Higher Education Minister
Zakia Shahnawaz, Parliamentary Secretary Information Rana Muhammad
Arshad, Secretary Information, Secretary Sports, Secretary Archieve and
others. Rana Mashhood said that Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif desires to
celebrate forthcoming independence day with zeal and fervor. He further
said that August 14
is the day of paying homage to leaders and workers of Pakistan movement
who had laid down their lives for the freedom as well as to renew the
pledge that Pakistan will be transformed in accordance with the ideals
of Quaid-e-Azam. He said that the living nations celebrate their
national days in a befitting manners and participation of all segments
of society especially youth will be ensured in independence day
celebrations. He said that all provincial departments would also chalk
out special programmes on this occasion to express their love for the
country. He said that Archieves Department will also arrange exhibition
of rare pictures and items with regard to Pakistan Movement. He said
that special functions will be arranged at public libraries to encourage
book reading. He said that floats to be prepared at district and
divisional level will be completed for exhibition till August 4.
He said that national flag will be hoisted at union council level while
large electric flexes will be displayed at union council level which
will highlight development activities. Rana Mashhood directed that
Muslim League-N workers should actively participate in independence day
functions and took an active part in different celebrations to be held
on this occasion. Provincial Minister Zakia Shahnawaz said that women
workers of Pakistan Movement such as Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Begum Rana
Liaquat Ali Khan, Shahista Ikram Ullah and Begum Shahnawaz will be paid
tributes on independence day. The meeting was also attended by Rana
Arshad, Shoaib Bin Aziz, Secretary Information Raja Jehangir Anwar and
Additional Secretary Information Shahid Iqbal who presented various
proposals for celebrating independence day.
