BAHAWALPUR(PR)The Syndicate of the Islamia University of
Bahawalpur approved Rs. 3364 Million budget for the fiscal year 2017-18. The
66th meeting of the syndicate held under the chair of Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq,
Vice Chancellor at Abasia Campus. The participants lauded Rs. 198 million
decrease in fiscal deficit during the last two years maintaining exemplary
fiscal discipline. The university had Rs. 343 million deficit in 2015-16 which
was decreased to Rs. 217 million in 2016-17 and during the current financial
year it has been further reduced to Rs. 145 million. The members also approved
Rs. 1908 million allocation for developmental works budget which was Rs. 675
million in 2015-16 and Rs. 905 million in 2016-17 depicting fast paced and
extraordinary progress during last couple of years. The syndicate also approved
recommendation of the selection board to appoint 2 professors, 2 associate
professors, 120 assistant professors and 4 lecturers besides selection of 2
medical officers. It is important to mention here that during the last two and
half year 251 faculty members at assistant professors and above cadres have
been appointed through selection boards. The syndicate members also praised transparent
and merit based recruitment process to fill hundreds of vacant posts both in
academic and administrative sides. This was the 8th syndicate meeting held
under the chairmanship of Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq who has regularized meetings
of university senate, syndicate, selection board and academic council through
timely appointment of members which has given tremendous boost to policy
decision making, streamlining and smoothing administrative procedures.
PhD scholar Majid ul Ghafar is going to defend his PhD thesis on July 20
BAHAWALPUR(PR)A PhD scholar, Majid ul Ghafar, Department of Media Studies, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is going to defend his PhD thesis on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Department of Media Studies, Faculty of Islamic Learning, Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus. Majid ul Ghafar completed his research project under supervision of Dr. Muhammad Shahzad, Department of Media Studies, IUB and the topic of his thesis is “Challenges and Prospects of Media Coverage in War-Zones: A Case Study to Tribal Areas of Pakistan” Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shamsuddin, Department of Mass Communication, University of Karachi and Dr. Irem Sultana Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication GC University Faisalabad will be the external examiners. Teachers, MPhil, PhD scholars and those who are interested are invited to attend the defense.
