Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq inaugurated construction
work of 38 housing units in Baghdad ul Jadeed

BAHAWALPUR (PR): Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq,
Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur inaugurated construction
work of 38 housing units at a cost of Rs. 148 million in Baghdad ul Jadeed
Campus. On this occasion, he said that there was a dire need of residential
houses for both faculty and employees as not a single house constructed during
past 8 years. He directed to ensure quality in construction work and completion
of the project within given schedule. It is important to mention that the university
has focused on fast paced developmental work during the past two and a half year.
Three mega projects including building of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan Campuses
and Agriculture College delayed since 2007 were completed at a cost of Rs. 1200
million. Similarly, sports complex was completed and made functional with addition
of cricket ground, squash and tennis courts. New building of faculty of
Education was constructed worth Rs. 270 million and Vice Chancellor’s Office
was also established at Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus. Three kilometer long carpeted
roads with footpaths were constructed at Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus. Renovation works
was carried out in all academic blocks and hostels after a gap of 6 years. Historic
buildings of Abbasia and Khawaja Farid Campuses were upgraded including renovation
of Ghulam Muhammad Ghotvi Hall. University guest house was extended making it
the best facility for boarding and lodging in the town. Further, two medical
centers and canteens were also upgraded in the University.
