BAHAWALPUR
(PR): Engineer Mian Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman, Federal
Minister for Education inaugurated Rahim Yar Khan Campus of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The mega project
funded by the federal government costs Rs. 726 million having academic block,
completed at a cost of Rs. 173 million while two hostels, administration block,
central library and students service center are under completion on fast pace
speed. In his address on the occasion the Minister said that government has
given top priority to Higher Education Sector with in four years its budget
raised to Rs. 100 billion from Rs. 40 billion. The South Punjab socio economic
development including uplifting of educator sector is another priority of the
present government, new universities has been setup, infrastructure of the
existing universities is being upgraded. He praised vision of Prof. Dr. Qaiser
Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor for ensuring both quality in academic standards and
speedy completion of mega project. He said that within a short span of time the
university has shown extraordinary progress in administrative and academic
domains brining laurels to the university. The Federal Minister emphasized on strong
academia and industrial linkage. Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor on
this occasion said that Rahim Yar Khan Campus was one of three mega projects
delayed since 2007. On his request federal government not only revive all these
three projects including Bahawalnagar Campus
at a cost of Rs. 408 million, Agriculture College at a cost of Rs. 421
million and additional amount of Rs. 309 million was provided of extension and
completion of Rahim Yar Khan Campus. Bahawalnagar campus was completed in 2015,
Agriculture College inaugurated 2016 and now inauguration of Rahim Yar Khan
Campus has opened new avenues of higher education in Rahim Yar Khan Campus.
