BAHAWALPUR(PR)Dr. Zia ur Rehman, Assistant Professor, Department of Islamic Studies, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur presented his research paper on “The role of Shrine of Baha-ud-Din Zakarya in the social Cohesion” at the ANU International Religion Conference 2018 Sacred Sites/Sacred Stories: Global Perspectives organized by the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. The conference was attended by good number of participants from more than 20 countries around the world. In his research paper, Dr. Zia ur Rehman focused that the teaching of Hadrat Baha-ud-Din Zakarya has become the congregation without any distinction of creed and the social cohesion is growing sharply due to his shrine. There are vast numbers of convertors or descendants of convertors, in whose conversion force played no part and the only influences at work were the teaching and persuasion of peaceful missionaries. The people of western Punjab accepted Islam by influencing Baha-ud-Din Zakarya. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) provided the travel grant to the scholar to participate in the conference.
