Art is a graphical and figurative expression of feelings and emotions: Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that art is a graphical and figurative expression of feelings and emotions and artist has an important role in a society as he shows clear reflection of society with his deep and thought provoking ideas. He said that art is a global activity and cannot be restricted to a region that is why we can bring art and science together. The Vice Chancellor expressed these views during a seminar on contemporary art at University College of Art & Design, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Rahat Naveed Masood, Former Dean and Principal College of Art & Design, Punjab University, Lahore and Dr. Sadia Pasha, Associate Professor, University of Culture and Heritage, Lahore talked on contemporary art and art work of various artists in social, economic and political scenarios. It is important to mention here that University College of Art & Design enjoys distinction in a way that it provides the students a multi-disciplinary curriculum and the necessary freedom to be groomed as an artist and designer. At the same time it strives for investigation and cultural relevance with Cholistan and local heritage of art and craft that making University College of Art and Design truly prominent. The students translate the most complex and innovative ideas into tangible forms, community projects, outdoor advertisements and decors of textile. The very first faculty art exhibition with the title of “Alif Ustad” shows cased in the college recently. In second Phase the University College of Art & Design Faculty exhibited their art work with the faculty of Multan College of Arts, BZU Multan in Multan College of Arts Art Gallery. The title of this collaborated exhibition was “Sangat”. University College of Art & Design organized the workshops for the student of painting and graphic design Textile students win first prize in the third annual DICE Textile competition organized by National Textile University, Faisalabad. 46 National and International Art Institute participated in that competition. Textile students took second position in knitting competition organized by National Textile University, Faisalabad. Art Gallery and Museum are very soon starting to be constructed beside University College of Art & Design. Principal Ms. Maria Ansari, Mr. Farjad Faiz and whole team of University College of Art & Design organized this informative art seminar and workshop.
