JOB FAIR-2018 ORGANIZED BY CAREER COUNSELING CENTER, GSCWU

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Employment is the main focus for any country/society/college/ university particularly for women universities in southern Punjab. Because just to give the best education or training to the students is not enough. The system has to provide platform to the students to implement & explore their skill in professional field. The ice Chancellor of GSCWU (Prof. Dr. TalatAfza) believes that the responsibility of the institution is beyond giving the education to students to qualify their academic with flying colors. We take additional responsibility to support them in making a right start of their career. In our desire to help them in this aspect she directed career counseling department to organize “Job Fair – 2018” on 26^th April. The Job fair was not only for all disciplines. More than 2500 students have registered online and around 1000 students have registered through on spot registration facility. 22 industries have participated in Job Fair – 2018.On the day of job fair, registration of the students was started early in the morning, Registration desks were according to the field .Companies also started coming early in the morning. Companies were given particular location .A list of companies and its requirement was displayed near registration desk. So that students can identify their choice of company.Event was inaugurated by Brig.ShahidMahmood (Project Director DHA) at 10:00 o’clock. He expressed in his speech that he has five degrees, but he has never managed to receive one in convocation, he said that you guys are luckier than him. Today, he wants to begin by talking about a world that our students grew up in. He claimed that most of you would have been 10 years old in the year 2000. The world that we came into, and the one that we are living in now are remarkably different.  He said today is a unique opportunity to form partnership between potential employers and employees. Entering work life after completed studies is a two way process. As students, you need to make yourself attractive employers. But companies have to make an equal effort to attract the best students too. In the end appreciated the efforts of university administration and career counseling center of GSCWU and also expressed.Speaking on the occasion, Mr.SaeedAnwar(Treasurer, GSCWU) said that the career fair should organize every year to create jobs and networking opportunities for graduates/alumni.He appreciated the efforts of CCC team for organizing such a mega event and encouraged the participants to make full use of the opportunities available there. He further stated that GSCWU would continue to provide such platforms for the promotion of quality academics.Mr.M. Ali Wallana (Director, P & D) also stated that GSCWU has become the number one choice for students due to its amazing corporate and research culture. GSCWU, through this annual career fair, would create employment opportunities for the students and gives them an exposure to deal with the organizations directly. He emphasized, “We are producing quality leaders keeping market demands in view so that they lead in their respective fields”.Expressing their views, some of the students said that the career fair was an exciting opportunity to interact with the companies of their choice. They said that the event had brought them opportunities to learn from the exposure and help in buffing up skills that are the requirement for securing jobs in a competitive environment. Ms. Nosheen Malik (manager, Career counseling Center) said that the key objective of the fair was to create ample opportunities for GSCWU graduates so that they become familiar with various companies and organizations in District Bahawalpur which will help them, find jobs easily. There were 22 stalls at the fair where significant number of CVs was collected and jobs were offered to GSCWU graduates. All stake holders, especially the business and enterprises have an indispensible role to play by providing training and internship opportunities for our young people to supplement their studies and have a firsthand experience of the various professions. She therefore appealed to all for support I this regard.Prof. Naseem Khalid (Registrar, GSCWU) said that this annual event, which has been held for the 1^sttime, has no doubt established itself as a premier event in equipping our students and job seekers alike with comprehensive and latest information on further studies, training and career openings under one roof.  All of you would agree that the future prosperity of any city will depend on the talents, skills and creativity of its people.  Our challenge – and opportunity – is to build up the best trained workforce that can rise to intense competition from around the world.  For this, it is imperative that we do our utmost to prepare our younger generation.  At the same time, we believe in the talents in each and every youngster, and that everyone should have the opportunity to develop such talents and grasp whatever chances life has in store for them. In closing, Mr. IjazNazim(President, Chamber of Commerce) wished the Worthy Vice Chancellor (Prof Dr.TalatAfza) and Manager Career Counseling (Nosheen Malik) for organizing successful job fair. He said that we should prepare our young girls to meet the challenges and opportunities in a knowledge based economy, we cannot work alone in grooming the talents for the future of Pakistan. So we must work together as team for achieving this target. He offered his services in this regard specially organizing and providing entrepreneurial opportunities for students of GSCWU.At the end shields were distributed among the all companies’representatives.
