(PR)Minister state for Education and Interior Engineer Baleeg-ur-Rehman has
said the Government has been spending billion of rupees to establish state of
the art infrastructure to provide basic socio-economic facilities to the
residents of Southern Punjab. He made these
remarks while talking to various delegations who called on him at his residence.
"Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif have earmarked special development funds
to eliminate sense of deprivation which had been privilege due to the policies
of the previous governments; and these new projects would usher new era of
progress and prosperity in the Southern Punjab", the Minister maintained.
Mr. Baleeg-ur-Rehman further said
that government has been paying special attention to promote modern education
by providing foreign scholarships to the students of the area to creat modern
and state of the art human resource base in the Southern Punjab, therefore to
achieve these unprecedented socio-economic uplifts targets, development
targets, the government has enhanced budget for education, to the tune of rupees
775 billion, the minister said.
To extend higher education
facilities the Federal Government has been focusing to promote distance
learning which is manifested by the operationalizing the two Regional Campus of Allama Iqbal Open
University by spending the development funds to the tune of rupees 210 million
on these two projects; the Minister concluded.

Saqib Zafar has directed all concerned officers and officials to mobilize all
available resources to ensure fool proof security cover to all educational
institutions, business centers, recreational spots in Bahawalpur Division. He made these remarks
while presiding a high level meeting to review the security arrangements of
different departments in the Bahawalpur Division.
The meeting was attended by
District Coordination Officer Dr. Ehtisham Anwar, District Police Officer
Sarfraz Ahmed Falki, Additional Commissioner Coordination Saqib Ali Ateel,
District Officer Coordination Amjad Bashir, CEO Cantonment Board Zafar Mehmood,
Director Colleges Prof. Mehmood-ul-Hassan,
EDO Education Ch.Bashir Ahmed and
heads of different education institutions representatives traders
community and prominent religious personalities.
The meeting took a comprehensive
review of the security arrangements made by different department in accordance
with standard operational procedure of
the provincial government. The representatives of different departments
briefed the Commissioner about various
the steps taken by them to ensure a comprehensive and effective security cover
their respective departments. The Commissioner Bahawalpur division directed the
concerned authorities to pay special attention to extend security cover at all
public places specially at airports, bus stands, railway stations during the
peak hours.
He further directed that scanners
and CCTV cameras should be operationalized and their working should be monitored by the concerned focal persons in
of all the departments. Commissioner Bahawalpur emphasized that alongwith all
public places the security of academic institutions deserves special attention.
Therefore, all heads of these institutions and should focus their attention to
monitor the functionalize of CCTV
cameras walk through gates to extend fool proof security in the academic
institutions he concluded.
5901 persons have been
provided vehicles under the Chief Minister Punjab APNA Rozgar scheme :

Bahawalpur (PR) In another meeting, Commissioner
Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar said that as many as 5901 persons have been
provided vehicles under the Chief Minister Punjab APNA Rozgar scheme in the 3
districts of Bahawalpur Division. Commissioner Bahawalpur revealed these
achievements in providing self- employment opportunities to the youth of the
division.
While elaborating the different aspects of the
scheme he said that out of 5901 vehicles, 3465 Bolans while 2436 Ravi vehicles have been distributed. He further explained
that the Bahawalpur beneficiaries got 760
vehicles; Ahmadpur sharqia Tehsil 451 beneficiaries, Hasilpur 408, Khairpur
Tamewali 105 and Yazman 339 beneficiaries got Bolan and Ravi vehicles in
District Bahawalpur.
The beneficiaries of the APNA rozgar scheme of
Rahim Yar Khan District include:- 617 in Tehsil Sadiqabad, 488 in Tehsil
Khanpur, 532 Liaqatpur and 1008 vehicles for Rahim Yar Khan Tehsils, the
commissioner said.
Commissioner Bahawalpur further stated that the
beneficiaries of Bahawalnagar district were:- 369 in Bahawalnagar tehsil, 353
Chishtian, 160 Fort
Abbas, 263 Haroon Abad
and 175 Minchan Abad.
Commissioner Saqib Zafar explained that in the
APNA Rozgar Scheme beneficiaries have been provided these vehicles on interest
free and easy installments basis which has enabled thousands of the youth of
the area to start their own business. This scheme would go a long way to
promote the culture of self employment among the youth of the area, he
concluded.
