BAHAWALPUR(PR)As many as 33 butchers and their associates blood
screening process has been completed successfully under an effective and
comprehensive public health drive to protect the economic rights of the
consumers at all the 12 Ramzan Bazars established at 5 tehsils of district
Bahawalpur. The blood screening tests of the butchers and their associates have
cleared the butchers by declaring their tests as negative. This was revealed in
a report submitted by Coordinator of Ramzan Bazars and incharge blood screening
campaign, Assistant Commissioner, Abdul Rauf Maher, here, today.
The blood screening drive was launched under the
directions of District Co-ordination Officer Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar to
determine the health profile of the butchers engaged in selling mutton; beef
and chicken at 12 Ramzan Bazars in district Bahawalpur.
"To ensure the sustainable supply chain of high
quality and purely hygienic meat, it is imperative to conduct systematic blood
screening tests of the butchers to protect the consumers from the potential
contaminated diseases", The DCO had underlined on the eve of launching the
drive.
Resultantly: EDO health Dr. Shahid Khaliq chalked out
an effective and comprehensive blood screening operation by utilizing the
services of mobile health units which collected blood samples of all the
butchers and their associates at the Ramzan Bazars. The medical teams collected
the blood samples of 33 butchers which were later processed in state of the art
pathological laboratories which cleared all the tests as satisfactory. EDO
health maintained the blood tests were conducted to determine the potential
existence of Hepatitis B&C; Tuberculosis; etc. which might have proved to
be a major public health hazard.
"The blood screening process carried out under
the direction of DCO is a wel-coming step to ensure the supply of hygienic meat
at the Ramzan Bazars", EDO health maintained.
Out of the total sum of 33 blood screening tests which
were conducted in different tehsils of district Bahawalpur include:- 19 in
Bahawalpur city; 3 at Tehsil Khairpur Tamewali; 4 at Tehsil Hasilpur; 2 at tehsil
Yazman and 3 at tehsil Ahmadpur east.

intensified its drive to implement the directions of SSP to ensure safe and
comfortable public transport facility to eliminate the menace of overloading of
passengers in public transport in general and APVs in particular", Admin
Officer Asim Arshan has said.
