BAHAWALPUR(PR)Government of Punjab has allocated funds to the tune
of Rs. 66 billion and 970 million to modernize both school and higher education
systems in the fiscal year 2016-17 in the Punjab province.
"This huge allocation earmarked the education
sector is a path way to turn into reality the revolutionary vision of Chief
Minister Punjab which is aimed at:- to ensure to bring into education system
all children out of schools; retention of 5 to 6 years age group students in
the schools; to extend scholarships from 6th to 10th class students purely on
merit and to modernize the socio-physical infrastructures of the school system
in the province", this is stated in the budget documents of fiscal
2016-17.
According to
the budget documents a total sum of Rs. 164 millions has been ear-marked both
to provide the missing facilities and to construct new buildings in different
schools of district Bahawalpur which include:- 150 millions for the development
projects regarding ongoing drive of developmental intervention pertaining to
missing facilities and Rs. 7 million each for 2 schools:- Government boys and
Girls primary construction of new buildings at Government employees
co-operative society limited at chak no. 9/BC.
Besides, a total sum of Rs. 701.5 millions has also
been allocated to strengthen supra-physical infrastructure at 8 higher
education institutions in district Bahawalpur. Out of this total outlay of Rs.
701.5 million would be utilized to upgrade the infrastructure by spending these
development funds through separate allocation of these 8 institutions which
include: - Rs. 80.7 million for Boy Degree college Sama Sata; Rs. 79 million
for Government girls Degree College Chuna Wala; Rs. 72.8 million for Government
Girls Degree College Sama Sata; Rs. 98.2 million for Girls Degree College
Hateji; Rs. 92.6 million for Girls Degree college Bangla Tailwala Yazman; Rs.
56.4 million for Government Girls Degree College Ahmadpur East; Rs. 46.8 for
Government Degree college Khairpur Tamewali and Rs. 175 million for the
renovation of the old building of Government Sadiq Women University Bahawalpur.

fine to the tune of Rs. 5 lakh has been imposed upon in Bahawalpur city tehsil
during an ongoing drive to eliminate the menace of profiteering during the holy
month of Ramzan. This was stated by Assistant Commissioner City Rao Tasleem
Akhter while talking to the consumers at Ramzan Bazar regarding the
achievements of local administration during the last 15 days. He further said
that a stringent drive has been launched to thoroughly check the supply mechanism
of fruits and vegetables from the cold storages to check the mal-practice of
artificial shortage of these items.
"Consequently, a sustainable and effective supply
chain has channelized for the smooth supply of the perishable items of fruits
and vegetables twice a day to ensure the supply of these 2 food items to the
consumers at concessionary rates at Ramzan Bazars", he maintained.

Bahawalpur (PR) The Governor Punjab/Chancellor has assigned
additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor of the Ghazi University, Dera
Ghazi Khan to Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University
of Bahawalpur. The Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab issued
a notification in this regard yesterday. It is pertinent to mention here that
Government of the Punjab had also assigned him additional charge of Government Sadiq
College Women University Bahawalpur during 27 January to 28 August, 2015.
Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq is a renowned
Mathematician of Pakistan and has achieved exaltation in his field, thus,
taking the name of the mother land to the heights of glory. He has served in
Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, as Professor of Mathematics and Dean Faculty
of Natural Sciences. He also retains the honour of serving Quaid-e-Azam
University Islamabad as Acting Vice Chancellor. More than 70 MPhil and PhD
scholars have achieved their degrees under his supervision. He is author of
eleven books and has also completed his Post Doc from Massachusetts Institute
of Technology (MIT). He was conferred with the highest Royal Scholarship by
Wolfsan College, Oxford and was awarded the Doctorate degree in 1983. He also
enjoys the honour to serve as visiting faculty at Abdul Salam Theoretical
Center for Physics Trieste Italy. He has also performed teaching and research
services at University of Brunei Darussalam. He has served twice as Syndicate
Member, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, as well as elected member of Royal
Commission’s Foreign Scholar, Senior Fulbright Scholar and Theoretical Center
for Physics. He enjoys unique identity and distinction due to his high
quality research work and has been awarded a number of honors, which include
First Khawarzami Award, Young Scientist of the South Award of Third World
Academy of Sciences, Italy, Honorary Gold Medal by the United States, Chawla
Medal, Salam Prize in Mathematics, Best Mathematician Award for two years by
National Book Council of Pakistan, M. Raziuddin Siddiqui Gold Medal awarded by
Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Fifth National Education Award and Gold Medal by
Pakistan Academy of Sciences. Educational circles have welcomed the appointment
of Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq on sheer merit and have termed this step of the
Punjab government as a boost for future academic development of the region.
