ONE-WHEELING - A GAME OF DEATH
WHAT IS ONE-WHEELING & WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?
One-wheeling is a madness of teenagers and youngsters. These
crazy Motorcyclists can be found displaying their dangerous stunts on
busy roads at night and riding their bikes on the back-wheels and
zig-zagging at highest level of speed. Most of the One-wheelers belongs
to the richest/landlord families, where no check & balance found
over kids about their outside activities and these guys have lot of
money to spend on different type of activities to fulfill their desires
to excel over others and making themselves prominent besides they are
venting out their frustrations by attracting people towards them because
they are badly spoiled and neglected by the busiest schedule of
parents/families.
This is a big question mark
that who is responsible for this deathly sport.? There is not a single
person responsible for this, first of all starting from parents, then
Government, Law enforcement agencies, society and illiterary bad company
are all the valid reasons for the development of this deathly game.
Initially,
this deathly practice was comon in big cities like Lahore, Karachi
etc, where these dare devils are often seen during day and night on the
back wheels of bikes doing juggling and other dangerous tricks without
Silencers divided into groupings.
But now this
curse is very comon in our peaceful city Bahawalpur which came into
fashion some 5 to 7 years before, due to this deathly practice so many
young boys killed or become disable for whole life and mothers have lost
their sons as a consequence. These bikers are openly and darely
breaks the law without any fear of authorities on the roads of
Bahawalpur like Welcome Chowk Road, Ahmedpur Road, Circular Road,
Central Liabrary Chowk Road, Gulberg Road and Islamia University Road
New Campus are most favourite spots for riding bikes.
In
this regard, The Government of Punjab, especially very much popular
and famous Chief Minister of Punjab, Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, has taken
effective steps against this chronic issue, by legislating a law and
passing it through Punjab Assembly for the prevention of One-wheeling by
the enforcement of law, through this law, crackdown should be launched
soon against not only One-wheelers but their parents will also be
punished with heavy penalties besides punishment to the bikers.
BUT
here question arises that who will implement / enforce the law?
Obviously, the TRAFFIC POLICE will implement the law by strict
vigilance on roads. But unfortunately and regretfully observed that
traffic police starts crackdown only for one or two days for the
completion of paperwork or preperation of files against One-wheelers,
and then; they perform their duties as a "SILENT SPECTATOR", although it
is including in their duties to control the One-wheeling by reaching on
the spot and take strict action against culprits and handed over to the
Court.
This is apathy / indifference of
society, that parents do not pay attention to this important human
issue, while a large number of mothers have lost their children in heavy
road accidents which are common.
In the end, I would like to say Welcome
to the recently deputed D.P.O. Bahawal Pur MR.ASHFAQ AHMED KHAN through
this column as Mr.Ashfaq Ahmed Khan is young energetic and dynamic
personality who wants to eliminate crimes from Bahawalpur and we have
high expectations that he will stop this game of death like One-wheeling
in real sense with enforcement of law by the concerned authorities and
take prayers of millions of mothers as well as people of Bahawalpur city
to nab the boys before their ultimate end comes;(death).
