UNDER HIS COMMAND &  LEADERSHIP SIGNIFICANTLY POSITIVE  CHANGE OCCURRED IN THE AREA OF BAHAWAL-NAGAR'S  POLICE CULTURE.

Normally in our society a proverb used for Police from decades that :=  

{OBLIGATIONS & JOB DUTIES OF POLICE IS TO HELP-OUT, PROTECT & SERVE THE PEOPLE.}  

The word police comes from the Greek "POLITIA" means Administration for people to follow the rules & regulations. Police Officers are those officials whom empowered by government to enforce the laws created  by the government.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF POLICE? The prime responsibility of the police is to protect and serve the people from harm and danger, to promote amity between people and police for public peace, advocate for victims of crimes and promote the accountability of criminals by enforcing laws set forth by the State and behave with the public with due decorum & courtesy.  But unfortunately in Pakistan usually on hearing the name of Police every gentleman is being terrified and normally in view of common people that, " above on the sky is Almighty Allah for us & on below down on earth is SHO,  who is presumably all in all."

The Institution of police in Pakistan doesn't enjoy good reputation and rightly so what to talk of "THANA CULTURE" which tends to turn the police stations into no-go areas for the ordinary people, there is ample evidence to prove that frequent extra judicial killings & murderous torture done by crooked police system. A shocking  & tattered reputation of police just like that they are TRADITIONAL WOLFS IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING.  Police is enormously notorious because of the dirty POLICE GARDI SYSTEM.  Whether guilty or innocent the police have the same method to treat, that's why,  in my opinion due to this culture of police a fair or honest man cannot  be survived.

Punjab being a biggest province of Pakistan and has the largest police force in the country.  Although there is a rampant corruption in almost all departments & all spheres of life  in Pakistan but corruption in police has no parallels as police is the most corrupt institution in Pakistan especially in Punjab there is no culture in police stations to attend properly poor people nor people believe that they treated  like rich or influential person while broker / middleman type people are  enjoying VVIP Protocol from higher to down the line as receiving bribe is not any offence in police culture.  But with the passage of time there is significantly positive change has been occurred in POLICE  THANA CULTURE , for the change of this scenario, credit goes to Hon 'able Chief Minister Punjab, Mr.Shahbaz Sharif who have made revolutionary changes in police culture, due to effective policies the results of these steps will reach gradually to common people but it will take some time.

In continuation of above topic,  dear readers now let's come to the real issue of this column, as everyone is well aware that District Bahawal Nagar is extremely backward area of Bahawalpur Division which consists on  (05)  five Tehsils. District Bahawal Nagar is backward due to lack of education and feudal system / landlord ism, crime ratio is on very high side because of noble persons/families are in constant practice to involve their opponents in fake cases for their rivalry extraction.  

But after the deputation of present Regional Police Officer (RPO) H'able Mr.Idrees Ahmed,  there is significant changes occurred in Police Stations by taking landmark decisions for the betterment and welfare of people as well as police department.

Meanwhile recently  Hon 'able Capt. (R) Mr.Liaqat Ali Malik has taken charge as District Police Officer (DPO) Bahawal Nagar,  who is one of the most vibrant,  intelligent, hardworking, energetic & dynamic personality.   His style of work is excellent which makes him capable to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with successful accomplishments.  His love to tackle challenges, and passion to market innovative products which distinguished him from his peers.  After taking charge as DPO  Bahawal Nagar significant reduction seen in crime rate.  Very often  &  surprise visits made by DPO to different Police Stations under his area either day & night.  He is using all his energies to change the environment of police THANA culture. 

Under his brave command & operations few statistics are share with you for information purpose:-  In the last (11) eleven months police has arrested 14,679 suspects along with 05 kalashnikovs while 832  illegal weapons recovered, 248 Kg & 933 grams Hashish recovered, 33,927 bottles of Alcohol, 181 running brewery's,  3 Kg & 352 grams heroine recovered, 9 kg & 420 grams opium recovered, District  police have arrested 47 accused from 13 gangs from them recovered gold ornaments, different type of stolen goods, live stocks and other different items worth Rs.1,00,16,355/- recovered, 205 suspects arrested from prostitution dens, there were 2966 accused most wanted  by police from which 354 were judicial fugitives they got behind the bars.   The spokesperson BahawalNagar police told that during filing cases of illegal weapons 832  accused were arrested, from them o5 kalashnikovs 46 rifles 149 guns 58 revolvers 552 pistols and 30 carabine  recovered.  1282 cases of narcotics were entered & 1431 accused got arrested,  from their possession 248 Kg & 933 grams Hashish recovered, 33927 bottles of Alcohol 31 kg & 352 grams heroine, 181 running brewery's, 09 kg & 420 grams opium recovered  & 54 drunkens were arrested.

According to District. Police spokesperson during Media representatives briefing that only in short period of eleven (11) months performance of DPO  was very impressive and excellent.  

Under the dynamic leadership of DPO Bahawal Nagar Capt ( R ) Mr.Liaqat Ali Malik,  the police department of Bahawal Nagar have  become the most compatibly equipped  institution with modern  &  scientific requirements to root out the crimes and established sophisticated command and control center for curbing crimes which is itself unique by the nature of work.  Besides this,  strong operation against prostitution dens is on its peak for this purpose 53 cases filed & 205 accused arrested. During operation against water thieves 523 cases were filled & 1075 water thieves arrested.  Spokesperson said that because of strong & effective strategies of DPO not only crimes reduction occurred but between police & people there is much confidence have now been developed.

In the end I am very much happy to have this hope that DPO Bahawal Nagar Capt. (R) Mr.Liaqat Ali Malik will keep it up these strategies with letter & spirit  for the improvement of police department as well as people unless he deployed in Bahawal Nagar District.
