Officers and Jawans of Punjab Police must protect the helpless people through commitment and dedication: Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera
BAHAWALPUR(PR) Inspector
General of Punjab Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has urged upon the officers and
Jawans of Punjab Police to protect the helpless people through commitment and
dedication by decimating the evil and oppressive criminal elements of the
society as modern era warrants new approaches of policing by not only upholding
supremacy of constitution and law but by also adhering to the
operationalization of community policing which is based on serving the common
citizens. He made these remarks while addressing a farewell Darbar held at
Police Lines Bahawalpur here on Sunday. “Modern Policing derives its
legitimacy through public confidence and trust through not only upholding the
law of the land but by serving the common people”, Inspector General noted.
He further said that Punjab Police had been
provided with State of the Art IT facilities through a comprehensive process of
digitalization which has not only enhanced the capacity building but also have
modernized the operational system of Police. “As many as 712police stations
have been linked through computerized system and the whole data of 36 districts
of the province has been digitalized which would sharpen the operational
process to wipe out the incidents of criminality in the society”, IG Punjab
maintained.
Inspector General Police said that development
budget of Punjab Police has been enhanced to the tune of Rs 2.5 billion which
would ensure to modernizing of the police stations in 36 districts of Punjab.
“Through digitalization the investigation
process would enable the police officials to streamline the policing to track
down the criminals and ensure speedy justice to accelerate the pace of
disposing of the criminal cases.” IGP said. He further said that Punjab Police
has rendered glorious and splendid services by embracing martyrdom. Our police
martyrs are the real heroes of the nation who sacrificed their lives in the
line of duty, therefore, it is our collective responsibility to look after the
families of the martyrs. ”Government has approved a special Martyrs Package
which includes a compensation amount of Rs 23.5 million to be provided to the
heirs of the martyred Constables and Head Constables. This package includes
monetary compensation of Rs 10 million and Rs 13.5 million either in the shape
of a 5 Marla house or cash.” He further said that comprehensive measures have
been undertaken for the welfare of 126000 constables serving in the police. He
said that the monthly compensation amount for the widow of the martyrs has been
increased up to Rs 6000 monthly and stipend has been fixed at Rs 1000 per child.
The system of extending economic relief has been linked through IT system and
ATM cards have been provided to the widows of the martyrs. He said that this
monetary compensation practically demonstrates the commitment and dedication of
Prime Minister Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to extend tangible, solid and effective economic relief
to the heirs of the martyrs.
Inspector General Police said that Punjab
Police stands at one of the leading police force in the South Asia by adopting
new and State of the Art digitalized facilities and this process of modernizing
the police system would greatly help in establishing a crime free society.
“Come what may, always adhere to stand with the oppressed, helpless and downtrodden
citizens who are the real masters of motherland”, IGP said.
Earlier, Regional Police Officer
Bahawalpur Muhammad Idrees Ahmad paid rich tribute to a long, illustrious and
shining 35 years career of IG Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera. He highlighted various
initiatives undertaken during a 3-years long tenure of IGP who transformed
Punjab Police as a modern and efficient force.

Rahim Yar Khan Zeeshan Asghar and DPO Bahawalnagar Liaqat Ali Malik applauded
the services of Inspector General of Police.
At Darbar, UGP mingled with police
Jawans. Later souvenirs were presented to the IGP by RPO and DPOs.
Inspector General Police laid floral
wreath at the monument of martyrs. He offered Fateha for the departed soul and
prayed to the Al-mighty to rest their souls in eternal peace.
At his arrival at the Police Lines, IGP was
offered Guard of Honor. A smartly turned out contingent of Police presented
salute to the Inspector General Police.
