Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana has said that the ray of hope
reflected in
the eyes of our talented, highly qualified and committed female students
is in-fact
the reflection of the vision to turn Pakistan into a modern, progressive
and egalitarian
society. He made these remarks in his presidential address at the first
convocation of Government Sadiq College women University, Bahawalpur.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Tallat Afza,
Provincial Minister for Cooperative Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, MPA
Fouzia
Ayub Qureshi, Habeebullah Bhutta, Dr. Rana Muhammad Tariq, Members of
syndicate
committee, faculty members, large number of students and parents.
“Intellectual empowerment of our female
students is imperative to create a solid, vibrant and dynamic knowledge based
economy which would accelerate the pace of development to turn Pakistan into a
welfare state”, Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana noted.
He further said that our highly
educated and skilled women would serve as a van-guard to sharpen the pace of
socio economic development in the country.
“Modern knowledge equips the youth
with intellectual faculties which enables them to tackle the modern challenges
which would usher in a new era of peace and prosperity in the country”,
Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana maintained.
He further said that by graduating
from the prestigious institution which was established in 1944 as an Intermediate
College has placed heavy responsibility upon the shoulders of our new graduates
who have become the stake holders in shaping the destiny of their individual career
and serving both their families and nation through dedication and commitment
for making Pakistan a modern welfare state. He urged upon the parents to facilitate
the newly graduate women students to play their active role by utilizing their
knowledge and skill and if they remain confined to their homes the purpose of
imparting education to them would remain unfulfilled.

Rafiq Rajwana paid rich tribute to the glorious and splendid culture of Bahawalpur
region which has contributed in the development and progress of the country by
producing highly skilled, competent and talented sons and daughters.
“Government was fully committed to
establish a modern, efficient and vibrant intellectual supra structure by establishing
new Universities, Medical and Engineering Colleges, building Solar Park and a
network of Motorways to extend a modern cover of socio economic amenities in
the Southern Punjab”, Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana noted.
He congratulated Vice Chancellor Professor
Dr. Tallat Afza, Faculty members, Parents and students on the occasion of the
first convocation of Government Sadiq College Women University. Later, Governor
Punjab awarded medals to high achievers and degrees among the new graduates.
Earlier, Vice Chancellor Professor
Dr. Tallat Afza in her welcoming address maintained that 14 departments under 5
faculties are running 26 different programs where more than 6 thousand girl
students had been receiving their education. She further said that government
has allocated as many as 125 acres of land to establish a new campus of the Women
University.
