of the Punjab has launched a comprehensive program by allocating more than Rs.
5 billion which is aimed to eradicate the curse of Child labour. This program
is visionaries to extent non-formal and formal education & professional
skill to the children involved in child labour. This was stated during a
seminar by the various speakers while addressing organized by labour welfare
department held at District Council hall, Bahawalpur here today. The seminar
was chaired by Additional Secretary Dr. Sohail Shehzad, Additional secretary
Labour & HRD, Government of the Punjab.
Dr.
Sohail Shehzad said that Chief Minister Punjab attached special significance to
complete the wipe out the scourge of Child Labour which is deprived off
children and opportunity to learn formal education & professional skill
which is vital to establish a vibrant & productive human resource base. The
meeting was briefed that Government of Punjab has launched a project under WFCL
amounting to RS. 180 million in four districts of Punjab which include Layyah,
Jhang, Chakwal & Jehlum. Similarly at two districts of the Punjab province
Kasur & Lahore, another project amounting to Rs. 123 million is also under
way which would extent education skills & provide soft loans to the labourers
working at the brick clines. The meeting was also briefed that another project
under progress with an allocation of 190 million in four districts of the
province which include Faisalabda, Bahawalpur, Sargodha & Gujrat. This
program is aimed to eradicate Child Labour and to extent Health & Education
cover to the children.
The
seminar was addressed by Director labour Welfare Bahawalpur Mr. Basharat Ali,
Assistant Director Labour Zubair Hassan Rajput,
and Mr. Zeeshan Mustafa. During the seminar a detail briefing was also
held pertaining to education supplies, monitoring check list & process of
payment to partner schools.
Later,
an awareness walk was also held which started from District Council hall and
ended at Saraiki Chowk . The walk was lead by Additional Secretary Dr. Sohail
Shehzad, representatives from different Govt. departments and members of civil
society.
