Hockey match was played between Bahawalpur Eleven and 31 Corps Eleven in
Matiullah stadium on 21 Mar 2018
on the eve of Pakistan Day celebrations. National Players like Brigadier (Retired)
Khalid Mukhtar Farani Manager Pakistan Hockey Team, Doctor Atif Bashir (Olympian)
Umer Bhutta (Olympian) Muhammad
Rashid (Olympian) and Umer
Hamdi from District Hockey Association Bahawalpur and Major General Muhammad
Zafar Iqbal General Officer Commanding 26 Mechanized Division and Officers of 31
Corps from Bahawalpur participated in the match.
The purpose
of Hockey match was to promote Hockey as a national game in the region. During
Prize distribution ceremony Commander 31 Corps, Lieutenant General Sher Afgun,
HI(M), gave away prizes and appreciated the performance of the players. Large number
of spectators were present in the Stadium to witness match and appreciated the
performance of participating players.
