True implementation of academic and administrative reforms has placed this historic institution at leading position at national level

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that true implementation of academic and administrative reforms has placed this historic institution at leading position at national level. He expressed these views during his address in the inaugural session of two day training workshop on Library Automation and Systems at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized by the Punjab Higher Education Commission. The workshop was participated by Prof. Dr. Aamir Ijaz, Vice Chancellor, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology Multan, senior officials of Punjab Higher Education Commission and 60 librarians associated with 22 higher education institutions of the region. Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq said that academic excellence has enabled the IUB to play leading role in the socio economic development in the region and this is the reason the government and other relevant organizations choose this university for organizing important seminars, conferences and workshops. He added that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has focused on professional development of its employees during the last three years. Previously there was no culture of professional training and development at the university. During last three years (2015-17) 38 administrative trainings were conducted in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Punjab Higher Education Commission and Federal Ministry of Education and Training and Provincial Department of Higher Education. The IUB has also been concentrating upon in service training to be offered to the administrative staff so that they may carry out key functions of the university in a better professional manner. Recently, 310 employees have successfully completed their training under this programme.  Prof. Dr. Aamir Ijaz, Vice Chancellor in his address praised the Punjab Higher Education Commission for organizing training workshops in the area benefiting the human resources. Muhammad Asif Munir, Director PHEC said that on the direction of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nizamudin, Chairperson, Punjab Higher Education Commission is striving for bringing positive change in the educational cultural of the institution. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Chairperson, Department of Library and Information Sciences, IUB said that the workshop has been organized to provide hands on practice to participating librarians about library management system in order to make them able to automate their libraries. The workshop is also aim that making participants aware about new technological trends in libraries.
