Acomprehensive and sustained campaign should be launched for public awareness regarding the hazards of rising incidence of Thalassemia : Prof. Dr. Haroon Khurshid Pasha

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Principal Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Prof. Dr. Haroon Khurshid Pasha has said that a comprehensive and sustained campaign should be launched for public awareness regarding the hazards of rising incidence of Thalassemia:- this may save thousands of lives in our society. He was addressing a symposium here in the conference room of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College. The symposium was attended by M.S. BVH Dr. Shahid Fraz, Director Punjab Thalassemia Project Lady Dr. Shabnam Bashir, Incharge Peadiatric Dr. Qasim Khichi, representatives of civil society and Para-medics.
            "Thalassemia's rising incidence is a great and serious challenging of public health:- therefore, along with  public awareness drive, a comprehensive mechanism should be evolved for promoting a culture of pathological test to mitigate this rising menace of health in our society", he maintained. Dr. Haroon informed the audience regarding various symptoms, different precautionary measures and the modern methods of treatment which are prevalent regarding the treatment of Thalassemia.
            M.S. BVH Dr. Shahid Fraz, Punjab Thalassemia Project Director Lady Dr. Shabnam Bashir; also spoke on the occasion. They highlighted the different measures undertaken by the Government of setting up 5 state of the art centers of Thalassemia in various cities of the province.

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Dr. Ehsan Sadiq has summoned all SDPOs to explain their position for their laxity in curbing the menace of:- Brothel houses, Narcotics and Gambling dens in their respective Jurisdictions. He issued these directions during a high-level meeting to review the crime figures which was held in his office Yesterday.
            RPO showed serious concerns regarding the slackness of concerned police officers in roping in the proclaimed offenders who are a potential threat to peace and tranquility of society.
            "Strict, effective and vigorous drive must be launched to arrest all the proclaimed offenders of the region by mobilizing all available resources", he noted.
            RPO Dr. Ehsan Sadiq said that emerging modern complex and industrialized society warrants a "paradigm shift" in police culture. He called upon all police officers to discard the decadent mindset of policing and adhere to community policing approach to deliver criminal justice at police stations. He directed SDPOs to initiate a new drive to check the rising crime of gambling, prostitution and selling of narcotics in the region.

Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Dr. Ehsan Sadiq paid sense of Grief and Sorrow over the sudden and Sad Demise of incharge rescue 15 Inspector Wasim Abbas who died of Cardiac Arrest. In his Condolence Message to his family, RPO maintained that he is Saddened and Shocked to learn about the sudden Demise of Inspector Waseem Abbas. The late Inspector waseem Abbas has served the Punjab Police with extreme sense of duty and high ideals of policing, he said. RPO Prayed that Almighty Allah may give eternal peace and Fortitude to the Bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with courage.
