BEING TAKEN FOR EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN: HAMEEDA
LAHORE(PR)Provincial Minister for
Women Development Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that government has taken
various measures for elimination of gender discrimination and empowerment of
women.
She was talking to different delegations of women. The Minister said
that implementation of women welfare packages is being ensured. She said that
women are playing an active role in economic development of the country. She
said that an important segment of workforce comprise women who are serving as house
and factory workers. She said that women welfare packages are being implemented
with the cooperation of departments and institutions concerned and their
monitoring is also being ensured.
Massive crack-down
against profiteering
BAHAWALPUR/BAHAWALNAGAR/RAHIM YAR KHAN(ByAbu Danish/Iqra Aziz)During an ongoing massive crack-down
against profiteering Price Control Magistrates have conducted as many as 14
thousand and 560 raids; inspected 3073 markets and imposed a fine to the tune
of Rs. 30 lakhs and 69 thousand during the month of May. Besides, Price Control
Magistrates have also conducted 2858 raids; inspected 714 markets and imposed a
fine to the tune of Rs. 10 lakh 49 thousand and 400 upon 462 profiteers during
the first week of June.
Under the direction of Commissioner
Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar, price control Magistrates have intensified
their crack-down against offenders of price control act in this ongoing drive
aimed to strictly ensure the implementation of price control act to protect the
economic rights of the consumers in the 3 districts of Bahawalpur division.
According to details 14 thousand and 456 raids in 3 districts of Bahawalpur
division which include: - 5959 in Bahawalpur District; 2393 in Bahawalnagar
district and 6104 in Rahim Yar Khan District in May.Similarly, the price
control magistrates also inspected 3773 markets in Bahawalpur division which
include: - 1577 in Bahawalpur district; 499 in Bahawalnagar district and 1697
in Rahim Yar Khan District. The price control magistrates during their raids
and inspections imposed a fine quantum to Rs. 30 lakh 69 thousand and 600 upon
the offenders of overcharging in the 3 districts of Bahawalpur division which
include:- Rs. 17 lakh and 10 thousand in district Bahawalpur; Rs. 3 lakh and 10
thousand in district Bahawalnagar and Rs. 10 lakh 14 thousand and 400 in Rahim
Yar Khan district. Moreover, 16 offenders of price control act were also booked
and FIRs were lodged against them in different police stations. Meanwhile, the
price control magistrates have intensified their ongoing drive against
profiteers during the running month of June. Resultantly: Price control
magistrates imposed a fine to the tune of Rs. 11 lakh 58 thousand and 500
against 462 profiteers in the 3 districts of Bahawalpur division. Out of these
2858 raids in the 3 districts of Bahawalpur division: - 1375; 570 and 913 raids
were conducted in districts Bahawalpur; Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan
respectively.
Similarly, the magistrates inspected
714 markets in the 3 districts of Bahawalpur which include: - 317 in Bahawalpur
district; 106 in Bahawalnagar district and 294 in Rahim Yar Khan District. They
imposed a fine to the tune of Rs. 11 lakh 58 thousand and 500 upon 462
offenders and also lodged 4 FIRs against them.
Commissioner Bahawalpur Saqib Zafar
has directed all price control magistrates to further intensify their ongoing
crackdown to fully implement the price control act in Bahawalpur division to
protect the consumer's rights in Bahawalpur division.
Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar paid a surprise visit of Ramzan Bazar at Yazman city

Saqib Zafar paid a surprise visit of Ramzan Bazar at Yazman city, yesterday.
Commissioner Bahawalpur inspected different stalls of fruits; vegetables;
kitchen items to check the quality of the food stuff and prices of the
commodities available at these facilities. Besides, he inspected agriculture
fair price shops as well and check the quality of fruits and vegetables and the
price list of these food items at them.
Commissioner Bahawalpur directed
Assistant Commissioner Rao Muhammad Shakil to strictly ensure concessionary
price regime devised to provide economic relief to the consumers at Ramzan
Bazar. He further directed to ensure accurate weight and implementation of
price control list of all food items which are available at Ramzan Bazar. He
further directed that special attention should be paid to ensure smooth supply
of sugar at Ramzan Bazar. Commissioner Saqib Zafar called upon all concerned
officers and officials to mobilize all available resources to ensure strict implementation
of price control act to ensure the provision of high quality food stuff at
concessionary rates at all the Ramzan Bazars established in Bahawalpur
division.
Later, Commissioner Bahawalpur Saqib
Zafar also inspected the site of water supply at 56/DB Yazman which has got
damaged yesterday. During inspection of the site concerned officials informed
the Commissioner that the damaged water supply was repaired last night and
supply of water has been restored.

for anti-adulteration committee for medicine, MPA Qazi Adnan Farid has called
upon health officials to intensify their crack-down against manufacturers and
sellers of spurious medicines to protect the economic rights of the patients.
Besides, he also directed further initiate strict actions against the menace of
quackery which plays havoc with the lives of the citizens. He made these
remarks while presiding over a high-level video link conference held in the
conference room of Commissioner Bahawalpur, here, today.
The meeting was attended by
Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar; DCO Bahawalpur Dr. Ehtisham Anwer
Mahaar; Additional Commissioner Saqib Ali Ateel; EDO health Dr. Shahid Khaliq;
Drug Inspectors of all tehsils; DCO Rahim Yar Khan Zafar Mahmood; Additional
district collector Bahawalnagar; officers and officials of the relevant
departments.
While addressing the meeting
Commissioner Saqib Zafar called upon the concerned officials of health;
administration and police to maximize their inter departmental co-ordination to
launch a massive crack-down against unregistered manufacturers of Allopathic;
Homeopathic and Herbal medicines and unregistered clinics of Quacks in
Bahawalpur Division. He further directed to widen the scope of crack-down by
dividing all tehsils of the division into sub sectors and making union councils
as the focal points to wipe out the menace of spurious medicines and quackery.
The meeting was briefed that drug
inspectors dispatched 1242 samples of medicines to drug testing laboratory and
imposed a fine to the tune of Rs. 98 Lakh; sealed 299 medical stores and
submitted 385 cases to drug quality control board and lodged 36 FIRs in
Bahawalpur Division.

speech competition, Naat-Qirat recitation. The ceremony was held at Government
Girls Higher Secondary School Setlight Town Bahawalpur. The ceremony was
attended by EDO Education Chaudhry Bashir Ahmed, Teacher and Students. The
Minister appreciated the outstanding performance of student Abdullah Tanseer
who got Second position in Urdu Speech competition at Provincial level. The
Minister gave away a prize Rs. 1,50,000 to Abdullah Tanseer. He also gave away
prizes to 43 other winners of extracurricular competition on this occasion.

concerned officials to mobilize all available resources to make adequate
arrangements to ensure supply of Foodstuff at concessionary rates at 12 Ramzan
Bazars in District Bahawalpur.
He made these
remarks while presiding over a high level meeting to review the arrangements of
Ramzan Bazars in Bahawalpur District.
The meeting was attended by Additional District
Collector Ms Imrana Ajmal, all Assistant Commissioners, district heads of all
departments and all concerns. DCO directed the concerned officials to make all
necessary arrangements to evolve adequate supply mechanism to ensure supply all
foods items at cessionary rates. "Chalk-out a traffic plan for smooth
running of traffic at Ramzan Bazars", he noted
He directed to ensure adequate supply at Ramzan Bazars
of all foodstuff items including:- Vegetables, Fruits, edible oil. Similarly he also directed the
concerned officials to establish separate counters for ladies, senior citizenz
and children at Ramzan Bazars.
He further directed to establish separate wash-rooms
for men and women at Ramzan Bazars as well. District Coordination Officer Dr.
Ehtasham Anwar Mahar directed the Health officials to ensure the availability
of all essential Medicines, availability of Oxigen and Ambulance service at
Ramzan Bazars. District Coordination Officer Dr. Ehtasham Anwar Mahar
reprimanded secretary Market Committee in his laxity to ensure affixing price
lists at prominent places at the stalls of, Vegetables foods and directed to
perform his duty with care in responsible way.

was held at Bahawalpur. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Rafiq-ul-Islam.
