BAHAWALPUR(PR)Executive District Officer Agriculture and focal
person for Ramzan Bazars district Bahawalpur Ch. Tanveer Ahmad has said that
Punjab government has allocated a quota of 446 Metric ton of subsidized sugar
at a rate of Rs. 55 per Kg for Bahawalpur district and so far 101 Metric ton
sugar has been provided to the consumers at 12 Ramzan Bazars in district.
He made these remarks during a visit to different
Ramzan Bazars in the district Bahawalpur. He further said that agriculture fair
price shops were also functioning very efficiently where food stuff was
supplied to the consumers at concessionary rates. Ch. Tanveer Ahmad said that
Ramzan Bazars were provided economic relief to the consumers by ensuring the
provision of quality edibles at concessionary rates to that of market rates
which include:- Reduction of Rs. 10 per Kg of Ghee; Cooking Oil and Chicken. He
said that the eggs were supplying at Ramzan Bazars at the cheaper rates in
comparison to the prevailing market prices.

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Punjab Government has prioritized to integrate the
disable persons by enabling them to serve in government departments through a 3
percent Quota reserved for them and to materialize this vision of Punjab
government as many as 81 disable persons
have been so far provided employment in class four out of a Quota of 173
vacancies in district Bahawalpur. This was stated in a meeting to redress the
problem of disable persons in district Bahawalpur. District officer
co-ordination Ch. Amjah Bashir presided over the meeting. The meeting was
attended by EDO community development Aftab Peerzada; District officer human
resources Tanveer Jhandeer; District officer special education Shazi Hashmat;
senior district officer social officer Yasin balouch; focal person for special
persons Dr. Anees-ur-Rehman and other officers and officials of the concerned
departments.
The meeting was also briefed that special facilitation
desk had been established at district officer social officer both to facilitate
and guide the newly inducted disable persons to perform their duties
efficiently.

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Provincial Minister for Co-Operative Malik Muhammad
Iqbal Channer has said that millions of consumers have been provided economic
relief through Chief Minister Punjab's special Ramzan package of Rs. 5 billion
at 318 Ramzan Bazars established in 36 districts of the province. He made these
remarks during a surprise visit of Ramzan Bazars at model bazar and Meley wali
gali.
"Adequate quantum of sugar and flours have been
placed at fair price shops at concessionary rates to ensure a sustainable and
effective delivery mechanism of supplying these 2 kitchen items to the
consumers at the Ramzan Bazars in the province", he noted.
Minister Malik Iqbal Channer checked both the quality
and the price regime of different edible items at different stalls which
include: - Vegetables; Fruits; Soft Drinks; Chicken; Meat at different stalls
at these Ramzan Bazars. During inspection the consumers expressed their
satisfaction regarding the arrangements made for their facilitation and
economic relief by providing quality edibles at concessionary rates in the holy
month of Ramzan.

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Dr. Ehsan Sadiq has said
that decline in the incidence of crime through the dedicated and committed
endeavor of Victim response officers in Police range Bahawalpur. It is a
practical reflection of solid and tangible achievements of the Police Officers
to establish a crime free society.
He made these remarks while giving away certificates of
appreciation and cash awards to a group of Victim response officers in a
ceremony held in conference room of Regional Police Office, here, today. SSP
RIB Gohar Mushtaq Bhutta; Victim Response officers and other police officers
and officials were also attended the ceremony.
"The rapidly changing socio-economic and civilizational
milieu warrants a major paradigm shift both at conceptual and functional level
of policing which gets practically manifested by implementing the modus operandi of Victim response officers in Bahawalpur region", he
noted.
"As many as 72 Victim Response officers through their
dedicated and sustainable facilitation mechanism managed to resolve more than
26 thousand cases of minor crimes through mutual consent of the contestants by
mobilizing the services of members of the local community", RPO said.
If these minor crimes were left unresolved, Resultantly the
decadent culture of litigation would have automatically come into action and
these minor crimes would might have led to a constant rivalry between the
contestant parties, but Victim response officers brilliant efforts settled more
than 26 thousand issues at the initial levels which is an extremely positive
and welcome development, Regional Police Officer Dr. Ehsan Sadiq maintained.
He urged upon Victim Response officers to perform their
duties diligently to earn honour and glory for their own-selves and for their
department as well.
Later, he gave away certificates of appreciation and cash
awards to Victim Response officers of 3 districts of Bahawalpur which include:
- Hamatta Ram; Ghulam Ghaus; Muhammad Makki; Muhammad Anwer; Muhammad Arif from
district Rahim Yar Khan; Toseeq Ahmad; Muhammad Arshad; Ahsan Zia; Matloob
Ahmad and Muhammd Afzal from district Bahawalnagar whereas Muhammad Qasim;
Mushtaq Ahmad from district Bahawalpur and former VROs Imran Kareem Gillani;
Javed Iqbal and Siraj Ahmad.
PU signs MoU with OPC
LAHORE (By our Bureau Chief) Punjab University Institute of
Communication Studies and Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab have
signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) to provide internship facilities to
the students of the institute. In this regard, an MoU signing ceremony was held
at Punjab University Vice Chancellor’s office. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid
Kamran and Director General OPC Nadeem Sarwar signed the agreement on behalf of
their organizations. Vice Chairperson OPC Shaheen Khalid Butt, Commissioner OPC
Afzaal Bhatti, PU Director External Linkages Maria Maldonado, ICS Incharge
Noshina Saleem and Amir Mehmmod Bajwa were also present on the occasion.
According to MoU, the joint collaboration aimed at imparting short and long
term internship to young students of the university. The OPC shall promote the role
of young students to enhance meaningful participation in national plans of
development put forth by OPC. OPC and PU will also value and develop non-formal
education programs/vocational trainings with student of PU as a tool to work
for betterment of the society. Moreover, PU and OPC will arrange social events
such as awareness programs, seminars, debates and trainings in which
representatives of PU and OPC will participate together. It is worth mentioning
that the intern students would be deputed to guide and facilitate overseas
Pakistanis at airports. Special certificates would be awarded to the interns after
the completion of internship.
Price Control Magistrates have accelerated crackdown against the traders and shopkeepers in 36 districts of Punjab
LAHORE(PR)On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister, Price Control Magistrates have accelerated crackdown against the traders and shopkeepers. Crackdown is continuing in 36 districts against the persons involved hoarding, overcharging, adulteration and violation of law. According to Ramadan Monitoring Report, maximum fine of four lakh 93 thousand was recovered from Lahore while minimum fine of Rs. 10500 was imposed in district Rajanpur. As many as 1497 raids were conducted in district Lahore and a fine of Rs. 493500 was received. Moreover, 124 FIRs were registered and 228 traders were arrested. 1756 Price Control Magistrates checked 2355 markets of different cities and conducted raids on 10107 shops. As many as 2093 traders and shopkeepers faced legal action for overcharging, three shopkeepers were found involved in hoarding, 58 shopkeepers and traders were involved in adulteration and other violations of law. Price Control Magistrates took legal action and got registered 264 FIRs. 360 traders and shopkeepers were arrested and a fine of Rs. 2816000 was imposed. Similarly, 2324 shops were inspected for checking weights and measures and violation of law was detected at 169 places. 95 traders and shopkeepers were arrested for short weighting. Inspectors of Labour Department have started legal action against 169 traders and shopkeepers.
