BAHAWALPUR (PR)Provincial Minister for Cooperative Malik Muhammad
Iqbal Channer has said that Rs. 100 billion Khadim-e-Punjab kisan package would
extend economic assistance to the farmers and peasants which would strengthen
agro based economic infrastructure in the rural areas of 36 districts of
Punjab. This would institutionalize fiscal intervention which is aimed:- to
provide soft loans, subsidized electricity for agro tube wells and fertilizers
for the farmers community. This was stated by Provincial Minister Malik
Muhammad Iqbal Channer while addressing as a chief guest at the public
awareness seminar regarding khadim-e-punjab kisan package 2016-17 held at
Ghulam Muhammad Ghotvi hall Islamia University Bahawalpur.
The ceremony was attended by MPAs:- Qazi Adnan Farid,
Fouzia Ayub Qureshi, Hasina Naaz, president Kisan Board Jam Hazoor Bukhsh laar,
Chairman Union Council Mian Maqbool Joiya, Bilal Baloch, EDO agriculture
Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmad, Zonal Chief Agricultural development bank, officers of
the agriculture department and a large number of farmers and peasants.
"Rupees 100 billion Kisan package is an effective
and solid economic relief mechanism which is aimed to provide subsidized agro
inputs to lower the cost of production of crops with a twin purpose to maximize
the quantum of economic benefit to the farmers and to boost the per acre yield
of both minor and major crops", Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer
said.
Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer said that Pakistan is an
agro based economy and more than 40 million people are engaged in agriculture
field in agro related activities and Khadim-e-Punjab kisan package 2016-17
would inject a massive 100 billion economic relief into agriculture sector
which would have sustained impact to modernize our agriculture sector which
would bring prosperity and progress in our rural areas.
Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer said that
federal government is also committed through its 350 billion economic relief
package to extend economic relief to the cotton and rice growers to mitigate
their economic losses by extending fiscal relief to millions of farmers in
Pakistan.
Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer further noted
that federal government has also earmarked a massive funds of Rs. 14 billion to
supply subsidized electricity for agro tube wells by lowering the price regime
from 8.85 rupees per unit to 5.35 rupees per unit which would result into a
cumulative economic benefit to the tune of Rs. 20 billion to the peasant
community in Pakistan.
EDO agriculture also spoke on the occasion. He
highlighted various features of Khadim-e-Punjab kisan package which include:-
Rs. 3 billion for manufacturing new breed of seeds, Rs. 1 billion and 200
million for establishing service centers of modern agriculture equipments.
EDO further said that khadim-e-Punjab kisan package is
a focused intervention which would spend Rs. 39 billion to extend interest free
loans to landless peasants and subsidized Urea and DAP to the peasants which
would enhance the profile of productivity of 31 million acre of agro land in
the province.

training workshop was addressed by prominent intellectuals and academicians
here, today. The workshop is underway at Government Arabic elementary school
Bahawalpur.
Those who spoke on this occasion include:- Prominent
intellectual Deputy Director Public Relations Nasir Hameed, Professor Dr.
Muhammad Shahzad, Assistant treasurer Rana Abdul Aqeel and principal Government
Arabic elementary school Dr. Syed Muhammad Ahmad.
The speakers stressed the need to import state of the
art skill in the students by opening modern vista of knowledge through holding
wide ranging training workshops for them.
Later, the B.Ed students Mairah Zafar, Amina Sattar,
Sobia Noreen, Zohra Jahangir, Binish, Warda, Afifa, Sana Tabassum and Ayesha
Latif presented national songs, tableaus and delivered speeches.
