the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf Zaffar, Ex-Chairman/Director Seerat
Chair, IUB. Prof. Dr. Khalid Zafar Ullah, Principal Government Post Graduate College
Samandari, Faisalabad and Prof. Dr. Abdul Hai Madni, Associate Professor, Department

DIRECTOR GENERAL SOCIAL WELFARE VISIT INSTITUTIONS OF SOCIAL

FAISLABAD(PR)Director
General Social Welfare Waheed Akhtar Ansari made visit in institution of Social
Welfare Department including Children Home Dar-ul-Aman, Sanatzaar and Nigehban
during his visit special direction were given to the officer for special
measure for the care, protection and rehabilitation of destitute children and
women residing in the institutions of Social Welfare Department.
He
said that govt. of Punjab said that is taking special interest and initiatives
for the protection marginalized section of society. Director General Social
Welfare also issued special directions for taking special measure regarding
Anti-Dengue campaign.
While
visiting Sanatzar(women skill Development Center) he observed that Social
Welfare Department need to review the existing contents of the training courses
and special focus is being given on the market demand, skill development
courses so that trained women can get maximum opportunities for their economic
empowerment.
District
Officer Social Welfare was specially assigned the task to monitor the progress
of the institutions and project and submit report on regular basis.PEF has laid the foundation of an educated and child friendly society

Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has laid the foundation of an educated and
child friendly society by providing free quality education to the needy
students at their doorsteps. This is, indeed, a giant leap towards
implementation of child rights laws which would also turn these students as self-confident
youth.
MD PEF Tariq Mahmood said this while talking to a
representative delegation of private school owners at his office on Friday.
Deputy MD (operations) Mr. Imran Yaqoob and Director Zahid Ali were also
present.
Tariq
Mahmood said that promotion of gratis education is a noble cause which benefits
the society in a number of ways. He said that no child will be left outside the
school and all out of school children of five to nine year will be accorded the
opportunity of free education. In this regard, the role of foundation is very
important as it has sensitized the low income families to send their children
to partner schools. This has encouraged the underprivileged communities and
provided educated youth for nation building. Education also helps in poverty
alleviation and empowerment of the youth, he added.

meetingPunjab government is completing the projects of residential colonies for labour community speedily:Raja Ashfaq Sarwar LAHORE(By DGPR)Provincial Minister for Labour & Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that Punjab government is completing the projects of residential colonies for labour community speedily. The construction work of Labour Welfare Complex Warburton district Nankana Sahib with the total cost of Rs. 926.126 million is almost completed and will soon be inaugurated. The project comprises 208 multi-storey flats, two separate boys and girls higher secondary schools with the capacity of 1000 students, community hall, main office, mosque and other related facilities. The site for a 100-beded hospital, commercial area and Daycare Center has also been reserved for future construction plan. Minister Labour Raja Ashfaq Sarwar while reviewing the pace of progress on different development projects of Punjab Workers Welfare Board, directed the concerned officers not to make any compromise on quality of material and transparency in these welfare oriented project for labour community. Secretary PWWB Shahid Zaman Lak while briefing Minister Labour said that Workers Welfare Primary School Sher-e-Bangal Colony with the total cost of Rs.185.46 million comprising 50 classrooms, computer labs, library, art room, play land and other educational facilities for the 1500 students is also near to completion. Director Works PWWB Muhammad Mazhar informed that to provide state of the art residential facilities to the labour community of southern Punjab, Workers Welfare Complex Multan with the total cost of Rs.3017.847 million is also under construction. The project comprises 992 multi storey flats, two separate high schools for boys and girls along with other facilities. He further informed that the extension work of Workers Welfare Girls High School at Dandot has been completed more that 85 percent with the total cost of Rs.46.781 million. The main features of this project are construction of five new classrooms, computers lab, library, art room, admin office and play ground. Minister Labour Raja Ashfaq Sarwar expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress of these development projects and directed to ensure provision of drinking water, electricity, sewerage and other basic facilities at the earliest.
TEAMS CONSTITUTED BY DG WILDLIFE TAKE ACTION AGAINST ILLEGAL
HUNTING
LAHORE(PR)The teams constituted by Director
General Wildlife & Parks Punjab Khalid Ayaz Khan for checking illegal
hunting at Lahore and Gujranwala have
taken action against two persons for netting myna and sparrows across the River
Ravi and catching parrots at Gujranwala and recovered the birds and received
departmental composition of Rs. 50000 from the accused.
According to details, Deputy Director
Wildlife Lahore received a secret information that some people are netting myna
and sparrows upon which he constituted a team comprising Inspector Wildlife
Mian Nazir Ahmed and Wildlife Watcher Saifullah, which conducted a raid across River
Ravi and took into possession two nets, a snake and other items from the
accused Amjad Ali alias Kalu s/o Barkat Ali and Muhammad Boota s/o Nazir Ahmed and
challanned them while the other accused managed to escape. Authorities of Wildlife
Department along with recovered birds will appear before the court today while
summons have been issued to the accused. It may be mentioned that action has
been taken earlier against the accused for hunting illegally.
A team was constituted under the supervision of Deputy
Director Wildlife Gujranwala Zahid Iqbal Bhatti which conducted a raid at a border area of Najwal village near defense bund and took action
against three accused including Manzoor Ahmed s/o Mahmood Ahmed, Zulfiqar Ahmed
s/o Manzoor Ahmed, Abdul Ghaffor s/o Abdul Karim and received 50000 rupees as
departmental compensation from them.
Director General Wildlife
& Parks Punjab Khalid Ayaz Khan has said the campaign will be continued
against illegal hunters. He said that all officers should continue their
activities against illegal hunters for the supremacy of law in their respective
areas without any discrimination and contact him immediately in case of any
difficulty.
Rs 39.63 million has been allocated for the repair and maintenance of working women hostels
LAHORE(PR) Punjab
Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that that a sum
of Rs 39.63 million has been allocated in the current budget for the repair and
maintenance of working women hostels.
She
was presiding over a meeting regarding Annual Development Programme 2016-17 and
implementation of Women Package, here today. Provincial Secretary Bushra Aman
and representatives of Women Development, Industries, Prosecution, Social
Welfare, Women Commission and other departments attended the meeting. The
Provincial Secretary gave a briefing on repair and rehabilitation of 10 working
women hostels, awareness campaign and training programme of domestic workers.
The meeting was told that approval has been given in the meeting of departmental
development subcommittee for repair and rehabilitation of hostels at
Gulshan-e-Ravi and Model Town Lahore, Gujranwala, Shamsabad and Khana Road
Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Hameeda
Waheed-ud-Din reviewed the ongoing public awareness campaign regarding women
rights and action under Women Package 2014. She told that an amount of Rs.
49.58 million has been earmarked under various heads for the campaign and departmental
committee has given approval in this regard. She said that a seminar is being
arranged in Faisalabad next month on honor killing which will be attended by
people of different walks of life.
The
Minister said that with the purpose of economic empowerment of educated
housewives, a training programme has been started and one thousand women have
been imparted training so far. She said that the programme will be reviewed during
current fiscal year and training will be imparted to more women. The meeting also
discussed development schemes of Provincial Commission on Women and Fatima
Jinnah Award. Construction of washrooms in offices and public places for women
under Women Package, setting up of daycare centers, women expo, business
facilitation centers for women and the progress of setting up anti-violence
center for women in Multan was also reviewed. The meeting was informed that
website of Women Development Department is being updated on regular basis while
a quarterly news letter has also been launched. The meeting also appreciated
the measures taken by the department on Anti-Dengue Day.
CHIEF SECRETARY PUNJAB ORDERS
IMPROVING PUBLIC SERVICE DELIVERY AT DHQ, THQ HOSPITALS
LAHORE(PR)Chief Secretary Punjab
Capt (R) Zahid Saeed has directed that provision of best medical
facilities, availability of medicines, missing facilities and cleanliness be
ensured in all the district headquarter (DHQ) and tehsil headquarter (THQ)
hospitals in the province, saying that no negligence would be tolerated in this
regard. He directed district coordination officers (DCOs) to personally visit
hospitals to review public service delivery.
He was presiding
over a meeting of DCOs that continued for more than five hours at Civil
Secretariat here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief
Secretary said that like cities, provision of best medical facilities for
people of rural areas is the top priority of the government. He said that a
comprehensive plan has been prepared to ensure best healthcare facilities at
District Headquarter (DHQ) and Tehsil Headquarter (THQ) hospitals and medical
superintendents would be financially and administratively empowered under this
plan. He mentioned that attractive salary package and other benefits are being
given to the doctors serving in far-flung areas so that they could work with
more dedication and commitment. He warned that no negligence and laxity would
be tolerated in provision of medical facilities to the people.
The Chief Secretary
ordered that campaign against polio and dengue be expedited in the districts
that are prone to these diseases, adding that continued efforts are needed to
eradicate dengue and polio once and for all. He directed that elimination of
child labour at brick kilns be ensured and stern action be taken by the
district administrations against the owners of the brick kilns involved in
child labour. He said that inspection of brick kilns should be continued
regularly and strict action be taken on violation of law. He mentioned
that the Punjab government has enhanced punishment for the persons involved in
the crime of child labour besides taking special measures for educating
children of kiln workers. He said that no leniency would be shown towards the violators
of law regarding child labour. He also issued instructions to take
effective steps for dealing with possible floods directing the DCOs to visit
embankments and recheck arrangements. The Chief Secretary said that he would
personally review the Citizen Feedback Model on monthly basis as it is the best
way to know about public opinion. He said that Pakistani expatriates are asset
for the country, their problems should be resolved on priority. He also
directed that cases of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab pending in
different districts be disposed of at the earliest. The Home Secretary briefed
the meeting about law and order situation and issued necessary directions
regarding security measures. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Overseas
Pakistanis Commission Punjab Afzal Bhatti, Secretary Planning and Development
and officers concerned.
