Bahawalpur (PR) The 68th meeting of the
Advanced Studies and Research Board of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur was
held under the chair of Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor. The board reviewed PhD
admissions in various departments and approved admission and registration of candidates.
Director Advanced Studies & Research Board Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ahmad presented implementation
report of decisions taken during the last meeting.

Anwr Mahaar read out Chief Minister Punjab's special message regarding the
vital role of local body's institutions for promoting democratic culture. A
special ceremony was held in this regard at the auditorium of Quaid-e-Azma
Medical College, Bahawalpur. The ceremony was attended by District
Police Officer Bahawalpur Sarfraz Ahmad Falki; Chairmen; Vice Chairmen;
Councilors of both Bahawalpur city and tehsil Sadar; Assistant Commissioner
Bahawalpur City Rao Tasleem Akhter; Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur Sadar
Husnain Khalid Sanpal and acting director local government and rural
development Khurshid Ahmad.
District Co-ordination Officer while reading out Chief
Minister Punjab's message maintained that government of Punjab was mobilizing
all available resources for strengthening the local body's institutions. The
Chief Minister Punjab's message further says that a comprehensive process is
underway to assess the financial needs to improve the infrastructure of the local
body's offices which also include: - Assessment of financial requirement
pertains to provision of furniture and other official fixtures to ensure the
smooth functioning of local bodies. The message further maintained that
effective measures are underway to provide funds to the local body's
representatives as well, The CM's message noted.
District Co-ordination Officer while communicating
Chief Minister Punjab's message to chairmen; vice chairmen and councilors said
that after resolving the different legal matters the relevant authorities would
announce the schedule of the holding of the elections of mayors; Deputy mayors;
Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen of the local bodies institutions, the DCO said.
Chief Minister Punjab's message further underlined the
significance of the local body's institutions by terming them as the vital
component of democratic project which play significant role to ensure better
delivery system to provide socio-economic amenities to the citizens. The
message underlined that there was a dire need to rise above political and party
affiliations to serve the under privileged classes of our society in a
dedicated and committed way.
On this occasion DCO and DPO responded to the various queries
and questions raised by the local body's representatives regarding local body's
institutions and different matters pertaining to law and order situations.
Later, local body's representatives also spoke about
the significance of local body's institutions and their role to resolve the
various issues pertaining to provision of civic services and their role in
promoting sustainable democratic culture.
Comprehensive security arrangement plan has been finalized to
extend security cover to the citizens :Dr. Ehsan Sadiq
BAHAWALPUR(PR)Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Dr. Ehsan Sadiq has
said that a comprehensive security arrangement plan has been finalized to
extend security cover to the citizens by deploying as many as 9622 Police
Officers and Officials in the jurisdiction of 72 police stations of Bahawalpur
region on "Chand Raat" and "Eid-ul-Fitar".
"The special police security force of 9622
officers and officials would be headed by 20 SPs and DSPs who would jointly
supervise the Eid security plan in Bahawalpur region's 3 districts Bahawalpur;
Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar", Regional Police Officer maintained.
"The Bahawalpur region's Eid security force of
9622 is comprised of:- 20 SPs and DSPs; 71 Inspectors; 290 Sub Inspectors; 376
Assistant Sub Inspectors; 3262 Head Constables; 3558 Constables and 2045 National
Volunteers of Police", RPO said.
Eid security plan has been divided into 3 phases which
has been entitled: - Pre-Eid plan; Eid Days security plan and Post Eid security
Plan. According to Pre-Eid security Plan special security arrangements have
been made to deploy police contingents on "Chand Raat" at all
important public places; business centers; shopping markets and Plazas; hotels
and restaurants. The Chand Raat security arrangements would be supervised by 20
SPs and DSPs who would have the assistance of 67 Inspectors; 217 Sub
Inspectors; 248 Assistant Sub Inspectors; 2280 Head Constables and Constables;
2025 National Volunteers of Police and 50 officials of special police force.
Regional Police Officer has directed that special walk
through gates should be installed at all Eidgaahs' Masjids and Imam Bargahs and
all visitors at these holy places should be thoroughly checked through metal
detectors prior to their entry into these places. He also directed to deploy
quick response force contingent at all religious places; recreational spots;
Zoo; Parks; Historical buildings and Play grounds. He further asked the Police
security forces to deploy contingent of lady police to beef-up the security
cover both for ladies and children at the parks.
"Special arrangements should also be made to
mobilize the police force to gear-up the patrolling process both at highways
and important Urban roads in Bahawalpur region", RPO directed. He further
directed the concerned police authorities to deploy special contingent of
police officials to provide security to the visitors at the graveyards in
Bahawalpur region.
Regional Police Officer has called upon the police
officials to mobilize all available resources to ensure the security of the
citizens during Eid-ul-Fitar. He directed SPs and SHOs to hold meetings of
peace committees at the police station level to establish close liaison between
police and citizens during Eid-ul-Fitar.

conducted a surprise raid at Brick-kiln at Chak No. 6/DNB, tehsil Yazman,
district Bahawalpur.
During the raid at NEW PUNJAB BRICKS, District
Co-ordination Officer found minor Children engaged in enforce labour at New
Punjab Bricks and he immediately directed to seal the brick-kiln and lodged FIR
against the owner of the Brick-Kiln. He has sought explanation from Assistant
Commissioner Yazman Shakil Ahmad in this regard.
