for Information and Broadcasting MNA Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti has expressed
deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of Dr. Asim Qamar. MNA Begum Perveen
Masood Bhatti went to the residence of late Dr. Asim Qamar and offered Fatiha
for the departed soul. She condoled with Mrs. Rafi Qamar, the mother of late
Dr. Asim Qamar. She prayed that Almighty Allah may rest he soul of late Dr.
Asim Qamar in eternal peace. MNA Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti paid rich tribute
to the outstanding services of late Dr. Asim Qamar to serve the ailing humanity.
District Government has cancelled the all the colourful ceremony as a mark of solidarity with the martyrs of Quetta incident
BAHAWALPUR(PRDistrict Government has
cancelled the all the colourful ceremony as a mark of solidarity with the martyrs
of Quetta incident and now Independence Day would be observed in a simple
manner. This was decided in a high level meeting which was chaired by District
Co-ordination Officer Bahawalpur Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar. The meeting was
attended by Additional District Collector Mrs. Imrana Ajmal, Assistant
Commissioners and officers and officials of the concerned departments.
The meeting decided to cancel:
- Independence Day March parade and a midnight fire work ceremony which was
scheduled to be held at 12:00 PM on 13th of August. Besides, Shane-e-Bahawalpur
awards giving ceremony has also been postponed.
DCO Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar
said that only flag hosting ceremony would be held which would be followed by a
special prayer to offer Fatiha for the martyrs of Quetta incident.
1 million
saplings would be planted in district Bahawalpur
BAHAWALPUR(PRAs many as one million
saplings would be planted in district Bahawalpur during the moon soon tree
plantation campaign 2016. Additional District Collector Mrs. Imrana Ajmal
inaugurated tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling of Ficus at Hasilpur
by pass, here, today.

Hameed said on the occasion that the target of planting one million saplings
during tree plantation campaign has been fixed which include:- 5 lakh saplings
at private land, 2 lakh and 60 thousand saplings by district government's
forest wing while 2 lakh and 40 thousand by provincial forest department.

17 shift in-charges of patrolling police was conducted. SSP Gohar Mushtaq
Bhutta supervised the proceedings. The 3 day refresher course was aimed to improvise
the capacity building to conduct their duties in-line with the dictates of the
modern era.

Khakwani inaugurated tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling of Ficus at
the lawn of Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur, here, today.
As many as 100 saplings were also planted by faculty dean, faculty members and
the students of Women University also.
Registrar Mrs. Sabeeha
Khakwani called upon the students to actively participate in the tree
plantation drive to establish a green Pakistan to mitigate the catastrophic
challenges of climate change. She further maintained that the tree plantation
drive would continue till September 1st.
DCOS
OF ALL FLOOD PRONE DISTRICTS TO PREPARE PLANS TO PERMANENTLY AVOID FLOOD
Lahore(PR)Provincial Cabinet Committee on
Flood arrangements has asked all District Coordination Officers of flood prone
districts to submit comprehensive flood fighting plans to avoid floods in their
respective districts on permanent basis.
This was decided in a meeting held in connection with review flood fighting
arrangements held here under the chairmanship of Convener Cabinet Committee for
flood arrangements Malik Nadeem Kamran here today. The meeting was attended by
Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Irrigation, Secretary Communication
and Works and representatives of all the concerned departments.
The meeting was told that chances of heavy rain in upper catchment areas of
Ravi, Satlaj, Chenab and Jhelm rivers and nullahs have reduced according to
metrological department one week forecast. So there is no fear of immediate
flash flooding in Punjab. Malik Nadeem kamran told that the matter of filling
the Mangla and Tarbela Dam to the full is a serious issue and a committee has
been constituted by the Punjab government to negotiate with WAPDA on this
matter. The minister said that to combat flood every year is as important as
Education, Health or Law and Order departments. But the most important task is
to ensure permanent arrangements to avoid this disaster. He directed all the
DCOs to consult with Irrigation officers and send comprehensive plans focused
to address the reasons of floods to save their districts permanently. He said
that on the basis of these plans, funds would be arranged to execute such
schemes without any delay. The TMOs of all the 144 tehsils and towns were also
directed to submit report about the total numbers of de-watering sets and other
items related to rescue and relief. They were also required to inform about the
trained human resources they have as there were lot of complaints regarding
their operations during and after rains.
The meeting expressed its concern over the absence of police officials at the
time of distribution of relief goods among flood affected masses and also traffic
police failure to play their role in smooth flow of traffic in flood affected
areas. Malik Nademm kamran stressed upon the need to enhance the coordination
level between DCOs and DPOs on this specific issue. He also directed Police
authorities to help concerned district administration by using their boats,
wireless system and life jackets during flood. Secretary Communication and
Works informed the meeting that road cuts at four different points in flood hit
areas of Narowal and Sialkot have been addressed by placing belle bridges and
traffic is smoothly moving on those roads now.--
