Punjab government has
allocated massive funds for ongoing road
sector development schemes;Iqbal Channer
BAHAWALPUR(PR)Provincial Minister for
Cooperative Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer has said that Punjab government has
allocated massive funds to the tune of Rs. 79 billion for 718 ongoing road
sector development schemes and in the current fiscal year 622 schemes are scheduled
to be completed which extend modern transport facilities in 36 districts of the
province. He made these remarks while talking to a delegation of civil society
representatives and PMLN workers.
Provincial Minister Malik
Muhammad Iqbal channer said that Punjab government has earmarked as many as 16
billion and 520 million rupees for 29 ongoing schemes in district Bahawalpur
which is aimed to both expand and modernize both urban and rural road network
to provide decent and comfortable communication facilities to the millions of
the residents of the district.

Channer maintained that the four major ongoing road modernizing projects in
Bahawalpur district include:- 28 Kilometer Uch Sharif to Ahmadpur East 2 way
road expansion project with one billion and 905 million rupees; Bahawalpur to
Hasilpur 77.25 Kilometer 2 way road expansion project with 4 billion and 974
million rupees; Hasilpur to Bahawalnagar 80 Kilometer long 2 way road expansion
scheme with rupees 2 billion and 156 million and construction of additional
ring road from railway station to Sadar pulli with rupees 2 billion and 116
million rupees.
"Chief Minister Punjab's
vision of modernizing road sector is aimed to provide state of the art road
access both in the urban and rural areas of 800 million people residing in 36
districts of Punjab which is practically manifested in the budgetary allocation
of rupees 79 billion in the current fiscal year", Minister Malik Muhammad
Iqbal Channer noted.
Saqib Zafar paid a surprise visit at Bahawalpur Zoo

Division Saqib Zafar paid a surprise visit at Bahawalpur Zoo.
During his visit the Commissioner inspected various parts of the zoo. He
inquired in detail about various measures undertaken regarding proper care of
birds and animals, cleanliness of birds and animal cages, draining system and
administrative affairs of the zoo. He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner
Bahawalpur city Rao Tasleem Akhter, Curator Bahawalpur Zoo Chaudhry Muhammad
Ayub, Veterinary Doctor Sohail Azmat and district Information Officer Nauman
Masood Khan.
Commissioner Bahawalpur
directed the veterinary doctor of the zoo Dr. Sohail Azmat to provide a
detailed report regarding the total number of recorded deaths and increase in
the population of birds and animals from January 1st to the 3rd week of August
2016.
Commissioner Bahawalpur
constituted a special committee to submit a report regarding the death and
increase in the population of birds and animals which would submit its report
within a week. Commissioner appreciated the services of zoo employee tasked
with look after lions in the zoo. Commissioner expressed satisfaction in
running the affairs of the zoo. However Commissioner Bahawalpur directed zoo
curator to undertake further measures to improvise the working of the zoo to
extend decent and comfortable recreational facilities to the visitors.

LAHORE(PR)Provincial Minister on Population Welfare Zakia Shah Nawaz has said that the population is quite dense in under developed areas of Punjab because of the monopoly of various social behaviors. She said that Population Department has started 38 mobile service units and taken initiative for setting up modern health clinics in 19 districts of Punjab. She informed that these 38 MSUs will provide basic medical facilities along with information with regard to birth control for the far away areas.
Provincial
Minister on Population Welfare expressed these view in a meeting regarding up
gradation of MSUs and 19 Family Health Clinics at Punjab Institute of Language
Art and Culture. She said that availability of medicine facilities in such
clinics, infrastructure and fully air conditioned modern buildings are included
in this project. Moreover, transport facility will be provided to the couples
who wanted to discuss their birth control issues in these 19 district based
clinics. She said that Mobile Service Unit is a kind of portable hospital which
can have facilities of gynecology and surgery. She said that such MSUs will
include staff of four paramedics and a gynecologist. She distributed keys along
with documents of MSUs vehicles among the Population Welfare Officers of Rajanpur,
Sahiwal, Sialkot, Khusab, Jhang, Rahim Yar Khan, Pakpattan, Narowal, Multan,
Mandi Bahudin, Lahore, Chakwal, Bhawalpur, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Ladhran and
Muzafargarh. Later on, Provincial Secretary Population Welfare praised the step

He has completed his PhD dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shams-ul-Bashar, Ex-Chairman, Department of Islamic Studies, IUB. The topic of her dissertation is “Criminal Procedure Code in the Light of Islamic Principles”. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf Zafar, Ex-Chairman, Department of Islamic Studies, Sargodha University Sargodah and Dr. Muhammd Umer, Department of Islamic Studies, Peshawar University Peshawar will act as external examiners. IMPLEMENTATION
ON THE DECISIONS OF CABINET COMMITTEE ON DENGUE TO BE ENSURED
LAHORE(PR)Advisor to Chief Minister
Punjab on Health, Kh. Salman Rafique has directed the all concerned officers to
ensure 100 percent implementation on the decisions taken in the meetings of
Cabinet Committee on dengue for making control on dengue more effective. He
directed that zero period in schools to create awareness regarding Congo should
be continued on the pattern of dengue so that message regarding safety measures
against Congo should be reached in every house.
He said this while presiding
over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on dengue at Civil Secretariat here today.
Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Punjab, Ali Jan Khan, DG Health Dr.
Mukhtar Hussain Syed, DCO Lahore, Capt (R) Muhammad Usman, DCO Sheikhupura,
Tariq Arqum, Senior Officers of all the concerned departments, Dean IPH,
Secretary Dengue Expert Advisory Group and the officers of Federal Government
Departments in Lahore attended the meeting. Commissioners and DCOs of
Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Jhelum and Attock participated in
the meeting through Video Link and apprised the meeting of Congo and Dengue
situation in their respective areas. The medical experts were of the view that
early diagnosis is essential for the treatment of Congo. The meeting directed
all the hospitals to take the history of patients coming to the hospitals with
identical symptoms of Congo and Dengue and if there is any link of the patient reported with the
cattle farmers or cattle handles, blood samples of the patient for Congo test
must immediately be sent to the Laboratory and all SOPs of suspected Congo
patient be implemented. Directed CDC Dr. Asim informed the meeting that case
management training of Congo patient has been imparted to the doctors of
teaching hospitals for which training sessions are being organized at Lahore,
Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Bahawalpur. He said that members of rapid
response teams were also attending the training session. Kh. Salman Rafique
said that the occurrence of Congo fever cases in Turkey is very high, however,
their case management is far excellence. He said that on the invitation of
Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the public health experts from Turkey were
came to Lahore few days back, they shared their experiences and knowledge
regarding Congo virus and case management of the patients with their local
counterparts.
Secretary Primary &
Secondary Health, Ali Jan Khan said that Local Government and Livestock
Departments have been asked to take extra ordinary measures in the cattle
markets to control vector born diseases. DCO Lahore Capt Muhammad Usman
informed that City District Government has taken lot of measures in the sale
points of Cattle Markets and spray on animals is being carried out to eliminate
ticks. He said that this exercise would be continued till Eid ul Azha. He
stressed the need of creating awareness regarding Congo fever among common
people specially butchers, cattle farmers, cattle handlers and other people
related to this fields. City District Government has already started holding
seminars and other activities for this purpose, the DCO added.
The meeting also reviewed the
anti-dengue measures adopted by the concerned departments. The officers gave
briefing regarding indoor and outdoor vector surveillance of dengue. It was
informed that meetings of Town Emergency Response Committees are being
organized on regular basis. The meeting was informed that additional human
resources have been provided to Lahore, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi and Multan for
intensifying the dengue surveillance activities. DG Health Dr. Mukhtar Hussain
Syed informed that sufficient quantity of chemicals used in dengue spray and
fogging is available in all districts. He said that enough stock of
insecticides is also available in the provincial stocks. Kh. Salman Rafique observed
that long season of dengue is ahead therefore, other departments should
continue their struggle to control this menace in coming months.
REVAMPING OF FOUR TEACHING HOSPITALS STARTS
LAHORE(PR) Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Punjab, Najam Ahmed Shah has said that implementation on the plan of revamping of four teaching hospitals in Punjab has been started on which Rs.2 billion would be spent and this project would be completed during the current fiscal year.
He stated this while
addressing the kick off ceremony of revamping of Jinnah Hospital here today.
Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College / Jinnah Hospital Prof. Mahmood Shaukat,
MS Dr. Shafqat Ali, faculty members of AIMC, Additional Secretary Health
Development Zaheer Abbas Malik, Additional Secretary Admin Asad Naeem, chief
Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti and the representatives of executing international
firm Meckinsy were also present in the ceremony. Najam Ahmed Shah informed that
four teaching hospitals including Jinnah Hospital, Allied Hospital Faisalabad, Benazir
Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi and Children Hospital Multan are being revamped
during current fiscal year. The work has been started from Emergency Department
of Jinnah Hospital where a lot of steps
have been taken for improving patients flow in the emergency department,
for this purpose token system has
been introduced and separate counters have been set up. Training has been
imparted to the staff. Five desks have been set up for the treatment of
patients with minor nature diseases. The doctors would be available on these
desks to receive the patients. Moreover, serious patients would be referred to
the emergency ward and two attendants with each patient would be allowed to
remain with their patients. However, children upto 12 years of age would be
directly referred to the Paeds Emergency. Minor alterations in the building
structure can be made for revamping the hospitals. The new system would not
only facilitate the patients but treatment facilities to the patients would be
offered in a better way and systemically.
