BAHAWALPUR(PR)Provincial Minister for Cooperative & Chairman Cholistan
Development Authority, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer has said that massive
development projects have been undertaken in the Chief Minister Punjab's
special package amounting to Rs. 1 billion and 373 million for the Cholistani
people. Besides, Punjab Government has undertaken a special initiative to
establish University of Animal Sciences at Bahawalpur which is aimed to promote
Cholistani live stock which is the main source of earning of the Cholistani
people which annually contribute Rs. 2 billion in the live stock sector as there
are around 2 million animals which are raised by the Cholistani people. He made
these remarks while presiding over a Consultative workshop to devise and
integrated ten years development program in Cholistan which was held at the
conference hall of Circuit House, Bahawalpur. Commissioner
Bahawalpur Saqib Zafar was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The workshop was
attended by MPAs:- Khalid Mahmood Jajja, Mian Muhammad Islam Aslam, Dr. Syed
Waseem Akhter, Hasina Naz, PMLN leader Chaudhry Saad Masood, MD CDA Naeem Iqbal
Bukhari, Brigadere Muhammad Zahid Chaudhry, representatives of Cholistani
people and officers and officials of the concerned departments.
"Cholistan is a living desert whose brave industrious
and patriotic Cholistanis have been braving the harshness of desert with
density and extreme patience which is reflection of their immense love with
their motherland", Chairman CDA Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer noted.
Chairman CDA Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer further said that
Punjab Government would be requested to establish Girls and Boys Degree
colleges, Vocational training institutes, Cattle markets and modern slaughter
houses in Cholistan and to establish institutes to promote wool industry through
a coherent, effective participatory development mechanism. This would revolutionaries
the socio economic landscape of Cholistan by sharpens the pace of development
which would extend socio economic cover to a large number of Cholistani people.
"Punjab Government has already devised a transparent and
merit based allotment mechanism to protect the economic rights of indigenes
Cholistanis", Chairman CDA noted.
He further assured that Punjab Government would also take
special measures to devise special Quota for Cholistani students in academic
institutions and special consideration to maximize merit based jobs through
Punjab Public Service Commission.
Chairman highly appreciated Commissioner Bahawalpur Saqib
Zafar's committment and dedication to renovate the cultural heritage of
Bahawalpur and installing Derawari Cannon and displaying the historic car in
the premises of the Bahawalpur museum.
While addressing the workshop Commissioner Bahawalpur Saqib
Zafar maintained that Cholistan is a living desert and Cholistani people have
been contributing through their hard work to contribute vigorously in
agriculture sector. He said that to devise and integrated development program
for a period of 10 years this workshop has been conducted to get the
comprehensive input from all the stake holders. He further said that 1200 cusec
water would be provided to the Cholistani area from Melsi Saifan during the
flood season. He appreciated the organizers of the workshop. Earlier, MD CDA
Naeem Iqbal Bukhari while briefing the participants maintained that the total
area of Cholisan stands at 6.6 million acres. He said that Government is
committed to utilize modern technology to quicken the pace of development in
Cholistan. He further said that through this one day consultative workshop, a
10 years development program proposal has been sort from heads of various
departments, experts and Cholistani people. He further said that CDA has
completed the process of desalting the 1100 water ponds, Construction of 31 new
roads, repair and expansion of Tale wala to Mithra road through Chief
Minister's Cholistan development project. He further said that new water supply
pipeline would be laid from Kud wala to Banna while expansion in the present
water supply network should also be made. The workshop was also addressed by
MPAs: - Kalid Mahmood Jajja, Mian Muhammad Islam Aslam and Dr. Syed Waseem
Akhter. The speakers gave their proposals regarding water supply, providing of
modern health and education facilities and promoting agriculture on modern
lines.
DCO Imposed section 144
BAHAWALPUR(PR)District Coordination Officer Bahawalpur Dr. Ehtisham Anwer
Mahaar has banned the entry of unconcerned persons under section 144 within the
radius of 100 meters of examination centers of Punjab Public Service Commission
established at Government S.E College Bahawalpur. This order has come into
effect immediately.

have successfully completed 9 weeks long water rescue training. The officials
of rescue 1122 of Bahawalpur region have the distinction of being the pioneer
whose whole staff has attained the water rescue training. This was stated by
Divisional Emergency Officer rescue 1122 Dr. Asif Rahim Channer, in a press
statement, here, today.
Punjab Government was mobilizing all available resources to revitalize Agriculture Sector:Dr. Farakh Javaid
BAHAWALPUR(PR)Provincial
Agriculture Minister Dr. Farakh Javaid has said that Punjab Government was
mobilizing all available resources to revitalize Agriculture Sector which is aimed
to extend Socio-Economic relief to the million of peasants in the province.
He made these remarks while talking to peasants
and farmers during an inspection of Cotton Fields at Musafir Khana Mauza
Sui-Wahar and Mauza Hoot-Wala in district Bahawalpur here, today.
During the inspection of Cotton field the
Minister inquired from the peasants and farmers about the provision of various
facilities by the government regarding supplying of electricity for
Agri-Tube-Wells, fertilizers at concessionary rates. He also inquired from them
about expected Per-Acre yield from the cultivated Cotton.
The peasant highly appreciated Punjab
Government's various measures for boosting agriculture by supplying Agri-inputs
at highly concessionary rates.
Minister Agriculture issued on the spot
directions to the officials of the Agriculture Department to resolve the
various issued which were brought into his notice by the peasants during
inspection of the cotton fields.
While talking to the farmers Minister for
Agriculture said that Pakistan's sustainable food security is linked with the
prosperity of the million of peasants. He further said that Chief Minister
Punjab has earmarked million of rupees in the current budget to extend economic
relief to the peasants by providing Soft Agri-Loans subsidy on Fertilizers and
tariff of Agri-Tube-Wells. He maintained that effective measures would boost
our Agri-Sector which the backbone of our country's economy.
Earlier, EDO Agriculture Ch. Tanvir Ahmed and
Agriculture officials brief the Minister about various ongoing development
programmes undertaken by Agriculture Department in district Bahawalpur.
CONTINGENCY PLAN FOR DENGUE SURVEILLANCE DURING EID UL AZHA
HOLIDAYS BE IMPLEMENTED
LAHORE(PR)Secretary Primary and
Secondary Health Punjab Ali Jan Khan has directed the EDOs Health
of all districts to play their vital role in creating awareness regarding Congo
virus among the people. He asked that personal protective gears should be used
by the medics in the hospitals while providing medical treatment to the
patients of Congo fever. Ali Jan Khan further directed that contingency plan
should be prepared and implemented for dengue surveillance during Eid ul Azha
holidays and surveillance according to the micro plan should be continue in the
dengue sensitive districts.
He stated this while
presiding over a monthly meeting of all EDOs Health in the committee room of
Directorate General Health Services Punjab, here on Sunday. Besides, DGHS
Dr. Mukhtar Husain Syed, senior officers of the department, members of Chief
Minister Health Road Map team, representatives of International Development
Partners, Director EPI, directors of different Health Programmes and EDOs of
all the districts attended the meeting. Secretary P&S Health Punjab said
that Primary and Secondary health sector is being developed to provide
quality health services at the gross root level and for this purpose revamping
of District and Tehsil Headquarters hospitals has been started. He further said
that district health managers have to work hard with more dedication for in
time completion of development projects in their districts. Ali Jan Khan
directed the officers to ensure medical equipment and machinery
functional and for this purpose they should pay regular visits to the
hospitals and health facilities regularly. He directed that special attention
should be paid on the availability of medicines and cleanliness in the
hospitals. He observed that attendance of the doctors and paramedics has
been improved in the hospitals due to the biometric system. He said that use of
latest technology in the health sectors has brought lot of improvements in
making discipline, monitoring of working and transparency in the affairs
of health facilities. The meeting reviewed the progress of routine immunization
coverage under EPI programme, Chief Minister’s health road map team briefed the
meeting regarding the availability of medicines, attendance of doctors,
paramedics in the health facilities, they also informed about the performance
of vaccinators, IRMNCH developments, functionality of medical equipment etc. It
was noted that lot of improvement has been in routine immunization coverage and
due to the better micro-planning and strategy anti polio campaigns in the
province have remained successful and Punjab, so far is a polio free province.
The meeting reviewed the progress in development work in various projects in
P&S health. The meeting discussed Congo and Dengue situation in
Punjab and the steps taken to control these issues. Procurement of medicines,
TB control, CDC, mother and child health and malnutrition issues were discussed
in detail. DGHS Dr. Mukhtar Husain Syed said that prevention program against
diseases is being run in Punjab successfully and polio eradication campaigns in
the province are very fruitful as no polio case has so far been reported in
Punjab which reflects the hardworking and dedication of the officers of the
department and polio workers.--
