BAHAWALPUR(PR)Minister
of State for higher education and interior Engineer Baleegh-ur-Rehman has said
that government is mobilizing all available resources to rapidly complete
ongoing energy projects which would not only end the load shedding but would
also have surplus electricity to meet the future requirements of the country.
He made these remarks while inaugurating an electricity supply project
completed with six lac rupees at Basti Mian Bazar, Lal Suhanra, district
Bahawalpur. The ceremony was attended by Mian Shahid Iqbal, Shahab Saqib,
Faheem Hassan Qureshi, Ramzan Chishti, Shahid Abdullah Chaudhry, Rao Rizwan,
Chairman Union Council, Councilors and a large number of citizens.
Minister
of State Engineer Baleegh-ur-Rehman said that the PMLN government attaches
special significance to the Bahawalpur region which is practically reflected by
establishing Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park at Bahawalpur which has been supplying
electricity to the national grid. He further maintained that PMLN government's
strong endeavor to maximize the pace of development has started yielding
positive socio economic results which would bring sustainable socio economic
relief to the masses.
Saqib Zafar has expressed his strong displeasure over the undue delay in the completion of 12 development schemes of Rs. 410 million of Cholistan Development Authority

Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar has expressed his strong displeasure over the
undue delay in the completion of 12 development schemes of Rs. 410 million of
Cholistan Development Authority and 2 schemes of Bahawalpur development
authority amounting to Rs. 210 million. Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib
Zafar has warned that strict disciplinary action would be initiated against the
concerned officials who have been tasked to ensure the timely completion of
development projects which are aimed to extend high quality socio physical
infra-structure to provide decent and comfortable socio economic facilities to
the people of Bahawalpur. He issued these directions while presiding over a
high level meeting to review the pace of development of various development
projects in the three districts of Bahawalpur Division. The meeting was
attended by Director Development and planning Saqib Ali Ateel, Additional
Commissioner Coordination Syed Waseem Hassan, Managing Director Cholistan
Development Authority Naeem Iqbal Bukhari, Superintendent Engineer Highways
Mohsin Shakoor, Chief Engineer Irrigation department Waqar Hussain Waraich and
other officers and officials of the concerned departments.
The
meeting was briefed that under the annual development program in the fiscal
2016-17, 230 ongoing development projects were being completed by spending a
massive development funds to the tune of Rs. 10 billion and 530 million. The
meeting was further apprised of that government has allocated development funds
to the tune of Rs. 2 billion and 310 million for the new development schemes.
The meeting was briefed that government has earmarked massive development funds
for the ongoing development schemes which were at different stages of their
development which include:- 49 schemes of road sector with total allocation of
Rs. 27497 million, 21 development schemes of higher education having
development allocation of Rs. 1745 million, 11 schemes of modernizing sports
infra-structure with development funds of Rs. 466 million, 31 schemes of
Cholistan Development Authority of Rs. 2716 million, 200 development projects
of Bahawalpur Development Authority having development funds to the tune of Rs.
46030 million and 7 development schemes of forest department of Rs. 385
million.
The
meeting was briefed that under the current fiscal year 2016-17 government has
released development funds earmarked for this current year to rapidly complete
these public welfare projects.
Commissioner
Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar emphasized the need to sharpen the pace of
development work on the development projects by having close vigil by the
concerned quarters to ensure high quality standard of development work.
He
further directed to ensure the timely completion of these public welfare
projects which should be handed over to the concerned departments to ensure
effective and solid service delivery mechanism to provide state of the art
civic amenities to the citizens.
Bahawalpur Police held a flag march

Police held a flag march which was led by SSP head quarter Capt. (R) Ghulam
Murtaza. The flag march was organized under the directions of District Police
Officer Bahawalpur Ishfaq Khan which was aimed to have a comprehensive review
of security arrangements and enhance sense of security among the residents.
Flag
march started from Police line Bahawalpur and after passing through Hasilpur
road Hamaitian, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed check post, Yazman road, Daewoo terminal,
Bhatta No. 1, old vegetable and fruit market, General Bus stand, Zoological
garden and terminated at Police line.
Various
wings of Police which include: - district police, elite police, QRF, Traffic
Police and rescue 1122 participated in this flag march.
A
large number of police officers and officials which include: - SDPO city circle
Fayaz Ahamd Pansuta, DSP traffic Muhammad Ashraf and SHOs of city circle: - SHO
Police station cant Amir Hussain Ghauri, SHO police station civil lines Mohsin
Sardar, SHO Police station Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Shaikh Asjad Masood, SHO police
station Kotwali Shahzad Serwer and a large number of police officials were
participated in this flag march.

Police Officer Bahawalpur Ishfaq Khan has said that district police
Bahawalpur is mobilizing all available resources to extend fool proof
security cover
during the Aashura Moharram in district Bahawalpur. He made these
remarks while
inspecting security arrangements both for Majalis-e-Aza and Azadari
processions.
"Under
the security arrangements contingents of police have been implementing the
comprehensive security plan by covering the routes of all Azadari processions
through barbed wires and effective measures have been put into place for the
thorough checking of participants of Azadari Majalis and processions", DPO
maintained.
District
Police Officer Ishfaq Khan said that police has established strong, vibrant and
effective coordination with the peace committees right from district to the police
station level to ensure effective security environment in district Bahawalpur.
Awareness walk on the eve of World Disaster Day
LAHORE(By our Bureau Chief) On the eve of World Disaster Day,
Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab, with the collaboration of
Rescue 1111, Fire Brigade and City District Government, organized an awareness
walk. The walk, started from Nasir Bagh and concluded at Town Hall,
led by DG Rescue 1122 Ameer Hamza and Director PDMA Dr. Khurram Shahzad, was
participated by a large number of officers and officials of Civil Defense,
Rescue 1122, Fire Brigade, City District Government, general masses, civil
society members and representatives from all walks of life. The participants were holding banners,
posters and flexes bearing slogans and preventive measures to be taken in case
of natural calamities.
Participants of the walk offered
fatiha and observed one minute silence to commemorate the departed souls of
those who died during 2005 earth quick. Sirens of Rescue departments were also
turned on for a while during walk so as to symbolically demonstrate the state
of emergency. Participants also distributed pamphlets and other informative
material among citizens to create awareness towards natural calamities.
The walk concluded at Town Hall where,
while talking to media, DG Rescue 1122 Ameer
Hamza and Director PDMA Dr. Khuram Shahzad said that general masses
should be more ready and aware of threat of any catastrophe as they are the
first to face the disaster. They said that allocation of maximum resources for
rescue and relief departments has become a global phenomenon and there is a
dire need to focus on permanent preventive measures against floods and other
natural calamities in our country also.
