BAHAWALPUR(PR)Provincial Secretary Agriculture Punjab Muhammad
Mahmood has said that Punjab government has introduced a new agriculture policy
which is focused to extend maximum economic relief to the peasant community by
spending massive funds to the tune of Rs. 350 billion. This new policy
initiative is aimed to revitalize the agriculture sector through sustained
financial and technical intervention which would make agriculture profession
profitable and would bring economic relief to the millions of peasants in the
Province. He made these remarks while presiding over a high level meeting to
discuss the various issues related to agriculture sector at the conference room
of Commissioner Bahawalpur here at Friday.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Bahawalpur
Division Saqib Zafar, DCO Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahar, Additional District
Collector Nausheen Malik, EDO agriculture Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmad, District
Officer agriculture Irfan Cheema, officers of the pest warning, agriculture
engineering, agriculture research centers of agriculture department and other
officers and officials of the concerned departments.
"The process of electronic registration of the
peasants was underway at land record centers which would enable the peasants to
get Kisan cards and through these cards peasants would receive interest free
and easy installment based loans at 60 thousand Easy Paisa sale points
throughout the province", Secretary Agriculture maintained.
He further said that to make this easy paisa sale
points process of delivering loans, peasants would be provided modern android
mobiles phones which would enable the peasants to get themselves acquainted
about the latest changes in weather, technical assistance regarding farming,
new trends in the agriculture economy and to enhance their economic empowerment
to sell their products at better rates.
"Peasants would get information pertaining to
various aspects of farming regarding sowing of crops, irrigating them, spraying
of pesticides and harvesting which is aimed to modernizing the farming on the
scientific lines", Secretary agriculture noted.
He further said that government has also earmarked
massive funds to the tune of Rs. 27 billion to provide pesticides and
fertilizers at subsidized rates to farmers' community. He said that special
Magistrates have also been appointed to check hoarding and black marketing who
would crack down against the violators of government policy. He further said
that government has made pesticide sector tax free to supply pesticides to the
peasants at affordable prices.
Secretary Agriculture further said that government
has reduced the per unit tariff to the tune of Rs. 3 by lowering it from 8.85
to 5.35 at electronic tube wells which would ensure the abundance quantum of
water to irrigate the crops. This facility would be extended to those peasants
who both pay their bills regularly and there stand no outstanding against them.
"Punjab Government has undertaken a new
initiative to provide interest free and easy installment based agriculture
loans to cultivators, contractors and lease holders which would expand the number
of beneficiaries in the agriculture sector", Secretary agriculture noted.
He further said that government has also launched an
initiative to prepare a credit history of both big owners of the lands and
small peasants which is aimed to streamline the loan extending system to the
genuine beneficiaries.
"Government has launched a comprehensive program
to restructure and revitalize the agriculture department by providing 300 new
vehicles, 2500 new motor bikes and 600 laptops to the officials of the agriculture
department which would further boost their operational capacity", He
maintained.
While addressing the meeting Commissioner Bahawalpur
Division Saqib Zafar said that all resources would be mobilized to achieve 100
percent targets of government policy.
DCO Bahawalpur Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahar requested to
the Secretary agriculture to undertake certain measures to enhance the capacity
building of the officials of the land record centers to extend better services
to the farmers. Secretary agriculture in his response maintained that financial
honorarium would be provided to the officials working at these land record
centers. Later, EDO agriculture Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmad briefed the Secretary
agriculture about the performance of the district agriculture department
Bahawalpur.

Iqbal Channar has said that Chief Minister Punjab's revolutionary policy
initiative of extending loans would directly benefit 6 lac peasants in the
Punjab province. He was talking to a delegation of peasants at his camp office.
"Under this program agriculture loans to the
tune of Rs. 25 thousand per acre for Rabbi crops while Rs. 40 thousand per acre
for Khreef crops through smart phones which would be provided to the peasants
in 36 districts of the Punjab province", Provincial Minister Malik Muhammad
Iqbal Channar maintained.

Senator Chaudhry Saood Majeed has said that government would mobilize all
available resources to expand and modernize the infra-structure of Bahawalpur
museum. He made these remarks while presiding over the meeting of Board of
Governors of Bahawalpur museum held at the conference room of Bahawalpur
museum.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Bahawalpur
Division Saqib Zafar, Vice Chairman & MNA Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti, DCO
& Director museum Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahar, MPA Shoaib Awaisi, Secretary
information PMLN Punjab & Chairman BWMC Samiullah Chaudhry, Deputy
Secretary information department Hina Pervaiz, Deputy Director Bahawalpur
museum Zubair Rabbani, Dr. Shahid Hassan Rizvi, Professor Safia Farogh,
Professor Haji Wali Muhammad, Deputy Director Information Nasir Hameed, Masood
Sabir, other board members and other officers and officials of the Bahawalpur
museum and concerned departments.
"Bahawalpur museum is the cultural,
civilizational and archeological bastion which reflects splendid, glorious and
shining heritage of our motherland", Chairman Bahawalpur Museum Chaudhry
Saood Majeed noted.
Senator Chaudhry Saood Majeed further said that the
galleries of the museum would be up-graded to meet the future requirements and
to preserve the archeological heritage.
While addressing the meeting Commissioner Bahawalpur
Saqib Zafar said that better display mechanism would be introduced to present
the precious antiques to the visitors. He further maintained that a new gallery
would also be established to display the historic journey of Bahawalpur.
The meeting decided to establish a social media page
and website to provide E-access regarding antiques of the museum,
computerization of the record of the antiques at the museum and to fill the
vacant posts at the museum. The meeting also decided to take effective measures
to settle the issue regarding pension of the employees of the museum.
The members of the Board of Governors of Bahawalpur
museum felicitated Senator Chaudhry Saood Majeed for assuming the charge of
Chairman Board of Governors of Bahawalpur museum. The meeting applauded the
efforts of Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar for taking solid and
effective measures for the betterment of Bahawalpur museum.

132-Kv Bahawalpur grid station from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM on 29th of
November due to repair and maintenance work. The feeders which would be
affected by the electricity shutdown include: - Radio Pakistan feeder,
Badr-ud-din Shaheed feeder, Satluj feeder, Alain paper mills feeder, Alsadiq
feeder, Bahawalpur trade center feeder, Operation theatre feeder and MES II
feeder. This was stated in a circular issued from the office of Superintendent
