BAHAWALPUR(PR) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar has
directed the concerned officials to further intensify the ongoing crackdown
against the manufacturers of spurious medicines and quacks to protect the lives
of the citizens in Bahawalpur Division. He issued these directions while
presiding over a video link conference of divisional task force for health at
his conference room, here, today. The meeting was attended by Executive
District Officers of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan, Secretary
District quality control board, Drug Inspectors, officers of health department
and other officers and officials of the concerned departments.
"Drug inspectors in the 3 districts of the
Bahawalpur Division should sharpen their vigil to wipe out the menace of quackery
and the heinous practice of manufacturing spurious medicines by preparing solid
cases against the persons involved in these practices to extend swear punitive
action against the violators of drug control act", Commissioner Saqib
Zafar directed.
Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar directed
to initiate strict disciplinary action against drug controller Muhammad Zain
for his slackness in performing his official duties.
The meeting was briefed that drug inspectors
conducted as many as 2432 raids at various medical stores and imposed a fine to
the tune of Rs. 4.1 million against the violators of the drug control act. The
meeting was further apprised of that during the last month the concerned
officials of the divisional task force for health inspected 578 medical stores,
collected 161 samples of medicines, sealed 36 medical stores, dispatched 44
cases to quality control board, lodge 6 FIRs and imposed fine to the tune of
Rs. 5 lac and 18 thousand to the violators in Bahawalpur Division.

Anwer Mahar has said that as many as 3639 VIP special cards are being awarded
to the teachers in recognition of their splendid and brilliant services to
promote education in district Bahawalpur. He made these remarks while presiding
over a joint meeting of government officers and representatives of various
business organizations which include: - Secretary regional transport authority
Tanveer Jhandeer, President of traders community Hafiz Muhammad Younis,
Professor Dr. Arshad Gardezi, Mehtab Ahmad, In-charge System network Azeem
Zeeshan, EDO education Chaudhry Bashir Ahmad, District Health officer Dr. Saeed
Asghar, representatives of various business corporations and other officer and
officials of the concerned departments.
District Coordination Officer Dr. Ehtisham Anwer
Mahar said that in the first phase both male and female 3639 teachers are
awarded VIP cards who played their constructive and effective role regarding
extra ordinary achievements in securing excellent results in various
examinations, enhancing the pace of enrollment of students and having a decent
record of attendance at their schools.
"VIP special card holder teachers are entitles
to get 10% to 40% discount at various medical, pathological and business outlets
which include: - pharmacy, pathological labs, hotels, restaurants, bakers,
public transport and other business centers", DCO maintained.
DCO Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahar further said that all
representatives of business community who are engaged in this noble cause would
extend their constructive and tangible cooperation to fully implement this
endeavor both at district and tehsil level.
"This program of awarding special VIP status to
the teachers is the first initiative by district administration Bahawalpur in
our country", DCO noted.
During the meeting stickers and association
certificates carrying the message "We respect our teachers" were also
distributed among the partners of this program.
