BAHAWALPUR(PR)Provincial Minister for Cooperative Malik Muhammad
Iqbal Channar has said that Punjab Government is fully committed for the socio
economic empowerment of women through effective pro-women legislation which
would usher a new era of ending gender disparity and would bring the women into
the socio economic mainstream. He made these remarks while speaking as a chief
guest at a Seminar regarding protection of women rights organized by Cholistan
cooperative wool development.
"Islam has provided a comprehensive pro-women
legal court which protects all fundamental rights of the women which is the
guiding principles of Punjab Government public policy instrument",
Provincial Minister Malik Muhammad Channar noted.
He further said that Punjab government has reserved a
special quota along with enhancing the age limit up to 38 years of age for the
women in all public sector jobs. He further said that these policy measures
have further strengthen pro-people institutionalization which would sharpen the
pace of empowerment of women.
The seminar was also addressed by Deputy Registrar
cooperative Rana Muhammad Wilayat, Assistant Registrar Sheeren Bahar and
Inspector cooperative societies Sania Aslam who highlighted various measures
regarding the menace of torture against women and issues of gender disparity.
Government would establish a digital library for special persons at Islamia University Bahawalpur:Baleegh-ur-Rehman
BAHAWALPUR(PR)Minister of state for higher education and interiors Engineer
Baleegh-ur-Rehman has said government would establish a digital library for
special persons at Islamia University Bahawalpur. This digital library is the
main component of government's endeavor to extend state of the art learning
facilities to the special children. He made these remarks while speaking as a
chief guest at a ceremony held in connection with "World Special People's
Day" jointly organized by department of social welfare Bahawalpur and
special education department at government secondary school for the blind

The ceremony was attended by MPA Fouzia Ayub Qureshi,
former president chamber of commerce & Managing Director Shamim group of
industries Dr. Rana Muhammad Tariq, EDO community development Aftab Peerzada,
Senior social welfare Officer Yaseen Baloch, District Officer special education
Shazi Hashmat, Dr. Anees-ur-Rehman, Mirza Waseem Iqbal, Muhammad Luqman,
Ishtiaq Ahmad, Muhammad Uzair, Mrs. Sehar Siddiqa, Syed Salman Tariq Bukhari,
officers of various government departments, civil society representatives and a
large number of special students.
"Government has launched an elaborate program to
extend financial assistance through Khidmat cards both for special persons and
people hailing from socio economically marginalized section of society and
these khidmat cards having a monthly financial assistance package to the tune
of Rs. 1200", Minister of State for higher education and Interiors
Baleegh-ur-Rehman noted.
Minister of state Baleegh-ur-Rehman said that government
has enhanced the quota in public sector jobs for special persons from 2 percent
to 3 percent and federal government is likely to increase this quota also. He
further said that government has provided jobs for 31 special persons at
Bahawal Victoria Hospital and Civil Hospital.
Minister of State Engineer Baleegh-ur-Rehman
expressed satisfaction on the operational excellence of Degree College for
special persons at Bahawalpur and appreciated the efforts of the special
education department for imparting education for deaf and dumb students at
their educational facilities.
The ceremony also addressed by District Officer
social welfare Shazi Hashmat, coordinator for special persons Muhammad Luqman
and coordinator for deaf and dumb persons Mirza Waseem Baig who highlighted the
significance of "World special people's day" for special persons.
Wheel chairs, sewing machines, weight machines and
white canes were also distributed among special persons on this occasion.
Earlier, students of various special education institutes and schools of
Bahawalpur district presented tableaus.

BAHAWALPUR(PR) Chair Person zonal Jahaiz committee MNA Begum Perveen
Masood Bhatti distributed financial assistance cheques to the tune of Rs. 4 lac
and 50 thousand among 30 deserving girls on account of jahaiz fund at a
ceremony held at Zonal Administrator Auqaf office.
The ceremony was attended by MPA Hasina Naz, MPA
Fouzia Ayub Qureshi, members of jahaiz committee which include:- Surayya
Perveen, Bigum Nasreen Ghauri, Razia gul, other members and Administrator Auqaf
Ayaz Mahmood Lashri.
MNA Begum Perveen Masood Bhatti said that jahaiz fund
is a vital component of government's policy to extend financial assistance to
the deserving persons through transparent and merit based mechanism.
