BAHAWALPUR(PR) As
many as 20 development schemes with a total allocation of Rs. 2741 million
under annual development program 2016-17 of highway division Bahawalpur are
underway to extend decent and comfortable road network to the people of
Bahawalpur district. This was stated in a high level meeting to review the
progress of the development work of these road network projects held at the
conference room of Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur.

underway to extend decent and comfortable road network to the people of

Deputy
Commissioner Bahawalpur Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal presided over the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Ex-en highway Sohail Ikram, Ex-en Buildings
Muhammad Shahid, District Officer planning Asmatullah and other officers and
officials of the concerned departments.
"5
out of 20 new and ongoing schemes have
already been completed with the total spending of development funds to the tune
of Rs. 1944 million in district Bahawalpur", Highway officials maintained.
The
meeting was further apprised of that the pace of development work on the 10
schemes of Khadim-e-Punjab rural roads program phase IV having a total length
of 49.44 Kilometers with a total allocation of Rs. 495.075 million would revamp
the road network infra-structure in the far flung rural areas, The Ex-En Highway
Sohail Ikram maintained.
The
meeting was further briefed that 70 schemes of the road network having a total
allocation of Rs. 242.983 under the fiscal year 2016-17 have been transferred
to the highway department which would further expand the road network
infra-structure through holistic developmental strategy.
Deputy
Commissioner while addressing the meeting directed the officials of the highway
department to sharpen the vigil of the development schemes by on the spot
physical inspection both to ensure the high quality of development work
completed within the stipulated time framework.
"All
available resources should be mobilized to remove all obstacles in the
execution of road network projects which is vital to ensure timely completion
of development projects to maximize the socio-economic benefits of these
projects to the common citizens", Deputy Commissioner Rana Muhammad Saleem
Afzal noted.
