"TREE PLANTING IS NECESSARY TO FACE ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES".

A number of trees are mentioned in the QURAN MAJEED & SUNNAH, i. e. Sidra-tul-Muntaha & the tree from which Allah forbade our father and mother  (Adam & Hawa) to eat etc.etc.

                                

Planting trees for the environment is good as they renewable, biodegradable and recycle able.   During photosynthesis trees and other plants absorbs carbon dioxide and give-off oxygen.  Trees keep in check the air and water pollution.  In other words trees are like the lungs of our planet.  Trees  remove harmful chemicals from soil.  They breathe-in carbon dioxide and breathe-out oxygen. Additionally they provide habitat for birds and other wildlife.

Trees are an important part of every community.  Our streets, parks, playgrounds and backyards are lined with trees that create and provide peaceful & aesthetically pleasing environment. Trees increase our quality of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into urban settings.  We gather under the cool shade they provide during outdoor activities with family and friends. During heavy rains, trees reduce the risk of flooding.  Experts says that woodland acts barrier to flood water, while trees also prevent soil erosion. Planting trees means Wood and paper products which can be easily recycled.

In our beloved country Pakistan, Plantation Campaigns have been celebrated officially in two seasons i. e. Spring & Moon soon every year.  Every High Rank Official of Pakistan for example, President of Pakistan, Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, Governors, Ministers looks inaugurated the tree plantation drive by plant a saplings by covering these campaigns through electronic as well as print media for advertisement. State Officials have also issued their messages on this occasion, and in their messages they encourage people for plantation in their surroundings while  they allocate targets for plantation to all the provinces with concerned authorities.

But it is usually observed that most of the officials of Forest Department only done paper work for the completion of files during the plantation campaign. Practically the targets never been achieved  in real sense  but in the files the plantation campaigns successfully achieved due to lethargic attitude of authorities.

It is the need of time that our political leaders, scholars, poets, high officials at Government level, teachers, intellectuals, heads of all type of educational institutions, NGO's and celebrities etc.etc.,  especially religious scholars should play their vital role to aware the nation through their actions, messages or debates for planting different type of saplings and trees at every nook & corner in our country for the betterment of atmosphere and beautification.

The  religious Scholars in our country have great respect and people have emotional attachments with their favourite Maulana, Mufti etc., as their impressive speeches at once grab their attention towards Islamic teachings or preaching.  In my humble opinion that  the religious scholars should choose social type of issues besides religious topics. 

Most of our scholars and government officials urged upon the family planning to control the population of our country as slogans like  " two kids are best" or "Break is necessary in between birth of 2nd child";   they should  motivate peoples and turn them towards plantation.  It is the duty of our religious scholars/leaders that they should leave groupings & sectarian differences and promote unity besides make Pakistan greener and floral. 

Hon'able Rana Saleem Afzal khan has recently been deputed as Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur District. He is young dynamic, talented, educated and well reputed personality.   He has got education  from Sadiq Public School Bahawalpur (SPS) which is not only an educational institution but it is in itself well known prestigious, dignified and great organization famous all over the world for its quality education. It is an extreme honour for any student who is studying here as this institution is continuously producing bureaucrats and high rank personalities.

In our District Bahawalpur the spring plantation has now  been started and 0.4(m) trees will be planted in the District as part of Spring Plantation Campaign. According to Govt.Handout, Deputy Commissioner Mr.Saleem Afzal khan presided over a meeting and directed during the combined briefing giving by Forest Department and Parks and Horticulture Authority  (PHA) that 100% results should be achieved from this campaign by planting a saplings.  He said that we should strive hard to make Bahawalpur an example for rest of the country by greener or floral. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the lax attitude of some officials in this regard of concerned departments and ordered them to plant the saplings of different species to enhance the beautification of our city parks and roads for making atmosphere human friendly.

He advised the executives of Forest Department to extend full cooperation with PHA that green belts parks and mediums on the roads should be planted and decorated with colorful flowers to our city with due care and proper watering.  He shows satisfaction of PHA's activities for plantation.   At last he added that cutting the trees is an offence, this practice should be stopped by filing cases against culprits.

As a Muslim and Pakistani Nation, come-on we should take active part in tree plantation campaign and discard the hatreds and burn the lamps of abloom flowers and plants by joining hands & standing-up shoulders to shoulders with our Pak Army against terrorism to eliminate our domestic, internal and external enemies.
