BAHAWALPUR(PR)Deputy
Commissioner Bahawalpur Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal has directed the concerned
officials of the social welfare department to undertake special measures for
recording and translation through computer software of the syllabi of blind
students of 9th and 10th classes to extend state of the
art education facilities to the special students in district Bahawalpur. He
issued these directions while presiding over a high level meeting to redress
the problems of special persons at his conference room, yesterday.

The
meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Aftab Peerzada,
Divisional Focal person for blind people Dr. Anees Ahmad, Divisional focal
person for deaf persons Waseem Baig, Divisional focal person for the disable
persons Muhammad Luqman, District Education Officer special education Shazi
Hashmat, Deputy Director social welfare Khalid Bashir, Ishtiaq Ahmad and other
officers and officials of the concerned departments.
"A
special cell should be established both for the comprehensive registration of
all the blind persons and the registered blind persons should also be issued
special cards to extend them maximum facilitation in District Bahawalpur",
Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal noted.
Deputy
Commissioner directed that immediate steps should be taken to provide jobs to
the special persons according to reserve Quota through transparent and merit
based mechanism and report in this regard should be submitted within 2 weeks.
Earlier, District Education Officer special education Shazi Hashmat briefed the
meeting that 11 special education institutions were fully functional to extend
educational facilities while 4 translators have been deputed at Bahawal
Victoria Hospital and Civil Hospital to extend facilitation to special persons.
