German researchers
visits Agriculture College, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur
BAHAWAL
PUR (PR): A research team from
University of Hohenheim Germany visited University College Agriculture and
Environmental Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to collect data
from the field trials and laboratory analysis at Soil Microbiology and
Biotechnology Laboratory. The Department of Soil Science IUB has developed
strong collaboration with scientist from Germany, Taiwan and Uzbakistan. The
visit was a follow up visit to the earlier Post-doctoral research stay of Dr.
Maqshoof Ahmad at University of Hohenheim Germany. Dr. Maqshoof Ahmad is
working as collaborating scientist in the BMZ/GIZ funded project “Seed
inoculation with rhizobium and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR)
under the main project “entitled Beans with Benefits; Integrating improved
mungbean as catch crop in to dry land systems of South and Central Asia for increased
small land holder farmer income and more sustainable production systems’
implemented by World Vegetable Center Taiwan. It is important to mention that
Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor has termed research benefiting people
and the country, a top priority in the university which has given boost to
research activities, resultantly, IUB was declared on 6th position in
research ranking of 21 universities of the Punjab.
