BAHAWAL PUR (PR): The University College of
Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur
has shown tremendous performance under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr.
Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor during the past two years. The college has
recently shifted to a new building completed in 2016. The College is also famous
for quality research on local crops including cotton, wheat and rice, promoting
agricultural sciences for ensuring food security in the region and improving
the living standard of the farming community. Recently, the Accreditation
Inspection Committee of National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council
(NAEAC) from Higher Education Commission visited University College of
Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, for accreditation of Departments of
Horticulture and Plant Pathology. The committee comprised of Professor Dr.
Saleem Haider, Director, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, University of
Punjab, Lahore and Professor Dr. Akbar Anjum, Chairman, Department of
Horticulture, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan. The Committee members enquired about the
procedure of degree programmes, board of studies and eligibility criteria for
admissions in the college. They also visited classrooms, offices and research
laboratories, held meetings with faculty members and interacted with students. They
also had a round of experimental areas of Plant Pathology and Horticulture to
observe wire house, glass house and other facilities of on-field research.
