                        BAHAWALPUR(PR)Government of Punjab has appointed Dr. Umer Farooq as program Director, District Health Development center Bahawalpur.

Herbal factory and sauce production unit seal, 16000 kg substandard food discarded
 
  BAHAWALPUR(PR)The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed herbal factory and sauce production unit while discarded more than 16000 kg substandard and unhygienic food ingredients that was being used for the preparation of food here on Saturday.
 
On the directions of Director General PFA Noor ul Amin Mengal, food safety teams under the supervision of PFA Additional Director General (Operations) Rafia Haider crackdown held raid against adulterators and substandard food suppliers in the metropolis.
 
Rafia Haider informed that they carried out operation after conformation of a factory and production unit from their Vigilance Cell, which involved into prepared substandard food products.
According to details, PFA seized 4500 kg jam (muraba), 6000 rotten fruits and 3000 kg substandard hone from Al-Shifa Industries located in Farooq Industrial Estate along with 2800 kg substandard ketchup from Modern Food Sauce Production Unit located at Hajveri Town also during raid. She said that substandard jam, honey and Ketchup were being at overnight and supplied to different shops.
She further that jams was being prepared by using rotten fruits, non-ratified flavor and blue drums being used for preserving jam. Further, sauce unit was sealed for using starch, non-ratified flavor, saccharine and chemical in the preparation of ketchup. She informed that honey samples were also sent for laboratory test.
 
In other action, PFA has also sealed two other premises including Lal Qila and Mehar Paan Shop. Also, Rs70500 fine was imposed to several bigwigs of food for not maintaining quality control.  
 
Separately, PFA Kasur district teams issued fine of Rs 23000 to two food shops and confiscated 100 packs of guttka, sweets and 250 grams non-food grade colour, late discarded.
