Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani scheme would ensure clean drinking water to
millions of residents in the far-flung areas of the Punjab Province: Iqbal Channar
BAHAWALPUR(PR)Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani scheme with
a total allocation of Rs. 24 billion would ensure clean drinking water to
millions of residents in the far-flung areas of the Punjab Province. This was
stated by Provincial Minister for Cooperative Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar
while addressing a public gathering at Abbasnagar, District Bahawalpur, Yesterday.
"The scheme
envisages repairs and restoration of 1574 dysfunctional water supply schemes on
an immediate basis which would accelerate the pace of supply of safe drinking
water to the residents both in the urban and rural areas", Provincial
Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar maintained.

Iqbal Channar further said that the major component of this massive financial
intervention to modernize the public health department aims at:- repair of
pipelines; effective maintenance of the machines and other electronic devices
and uninterrupted supply of electricity for running water supply schemes.
"Saaf Pani Scheme
is a major initiative under the Chief Minister Punjab's pro-people policy
framework which attaches special significance by allocating special funds both
for expanding and modernizing socio physical infrastructure for the residents
of Southern Punjab", Provincial Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar
noted.
