BAHAWALPUR(PR)Faculty of Pharmacy & Alternative Medicine the
Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized one day seminar in connection with
the “World Childhood Cancer Day”. The speakers emphasized the role of pharmacy
profession and pharmacists in the cure and treatment of this fatal disease. They
further said that students of Pharmacy should learn the treatment schedule and
focus to prepare the drug delivery system that can target the fatal cancer
without damaging to the patient. They praised leadership of Prof. Dr. Qaiser
Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor of the university, to provide the conducive
environment of learning and research throughout the university. Prof. Dr.
Naveed Akhtar appreciated the Pharmacy education society (PES) for arranging
the event.
Speakers, also delivered extensive lectures on topics of
International Childhood Cancer Day awareness, current scenario of childhood
cancer in Pakistan, organizations of childhood cancer international (CCI),
childhood cancer and its different types, rate of survival in case of childhood
cancer in low and middle income countries, the emerging role of pharmacist in
the field of childhood cancer, The Role of the pediatric pharmacist in personalized
medicine and clinical pharmacogenomics for children, opportunities for
pharmacists exist in both inpatient and outpatient settings, such as
pharmacist-managed clinical pharmacogenomics consultation services and
educating patients and families about pharmacogenomic testing, new drug delivery
design systems introduced by the pharmacist. Faculty and students of pharmacy
also carried the golden ribbon on their shoulders. The seminar was concluded by
Dr. Qaiser Jabeen with the hope that together we can create awareness among the
society to bring change in the cure of cancer. An awareness walk was also
arranged for the community.
