Sargodha enjoys the status of the biggest Stone Crushing Industry in Asia Ch. Sher Ali Khan

Sargodha( By Our Bureau Chief) Provincial Minster for Mines and Minerals Ch. Sher Ali Khan has said that District Sargodha enjoys the status of the biggest Stone Crushing Industry in Asia. Punjab Government is utilizing all its sources and a large portion of the revenue collected from this crushing area for the welfare and rehabilitation of mines workers and their families. An amount of Rs. One billion has been allocated for the construction of roads in the stone crushing area whereas a Mines Labour Colony at 38-kanal land with State-of-the-art facilities is being established in Sargodha as well. A Mines Rescue and Safety Station with the total cost of Rs. 80 million is also under construction at Chakwal to ensure and update safety measures for the Mines workers’ taken by the department.
                He said this while presiding over a meeting to review the progress on development schemes for Mines Labour, here today. Chief Inspector of Mines Engineer Siddique Chaudhary, Director Mines Welfare Riaz Ahmad Ch, Director Environment Mines Afzaal Ahmad Butt, Director Resource Mapping Allah Yaar, Senior Research Officer Mian Zahid Mahmood and other concerned officers attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that a 10-bedded Mines Labour Welfare Hospital with the cost of Rs. 90 million has been established at crushing areas near Sargodha to provide free and latest round the clock health facilities to the Mines’ workers and their families. The hospital is equipped with ambulance, x-ray, operation theatre, ECG and clinical laboratory as well. More than 5500 workers and their families will be facilitated by this hospital. The meeting was informed that a Mines Welfare Girls High School has also been established at 52-kanal land with the total cost of Rs. 140 million where 83 students are enrolled and are provided free education, books and uniform. The meeting also discussed matters related to welfare of Mines workers, measures to prevent accidents in mines, educational scholarships, EOBI, pensions, training workshops & courses and enhance Mineral sources. Minister Mines Ch. Sher Ali Khan directed the concerned officers to complete the development projects for the welfare of Mines workers in the targeted time. He said that the 300mw Coal Fired Power Plant at Pind Dadan Khan and adjacent Coal Mining Project at Chawan Saidan Shah will not only help out to control present energy crisis but also create new opportunities of jobs for the local youth.
