Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that for
effective university governance, enhancement in academic standards, financial
management, development of infrastructure and research benefiting people and
the country are included in his priorities. The Vice Chancellor expressed these
views on the occasion of the visit of civil officers participating in the 20th
national mid-care management course of National Institute of Management.
Professor Dr Qaiser Mushtaq elaborated that the improvement in the academic
standards can only be achieved when the teachers and employees are provided
with the conducive environment where they could perform their duties with
devotion and commitment. For this purpose a proper semester calendar has been
launched and two semesters have been finalized for each academic year so that
the precious time of the students could be saved. In this regard, five sessions
of the selection board have been held, five training courses were also held
with the help of HEC to get the administrative staff awareness about the latest
tools of management principles in which about 300 employees participated. He
said that in the development sector due to special focus building of university
sports complex and Bahawalpur campus has been completed. The progress on the
construction of educational training building with the help of USAID grant of
Rs. 270 million is going on rapidly. Similarly, the study park of unique type
exclusively for girl students among the universities is under construction at a
very low cost. He added that due to upright in academic standards Pakistan
Engineering Council and Pakistan Veterinary and Medical Council have declared
the Engineering and Veterinary programs of IUB as valid. The students are
showing better performance in the sports competition and IUB has achieved
overall second position in the HEC annual sports. The chief of the delegation
and coordinator of Pakistan Institute of Management, Mr. Tariq Javid lauded the
high quality academic environment and development in IUB. Earlier, director
Planning and Development, Mr. Muhammad Ali Wallana, gave the briefing about
governing bodies of IUB and academic and administrative department.
