LAHORE(PR)Punjab
Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and Gulab Devi Chest Hospital would extend
cooperation to provide treatment / procedural facilities to the cardiac
patients and to reduce the patient load at PIC. Government would provide
special funds to Gulab Devi Hospital for this purpose.
It
is stated by the Advisor to Chief Minister on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique
while visiting Cardiology Department of Gulab Devi Chest Hospital, here today.
Secretary Specialized healthcare and Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah was
also accompanied the Advisor. Chief Executive Punjab Institute of Cardiology,
Prof. Nadeem Hayat Malik, Prof. Dr. Asad Aslam Khan from KEMU, Principal Allama
Iqbal Medical College, Prof. Mehmood Shaukat, renowned cardiologists Prof.
Zubair, Additional Secretary Development Zaheer Abbas Malik, Additional
Secretary Technical Dr. Salman Shahid and MS Gulab Devi Hospital Dr. Muhammad
Hamid were also present on the occasion.

Salman Rafique alongwith other experts visited the Cardiology Emergency,
medical wards, Cardiac Surgery Unit and Angiography Section. On this occasion,
Najam Ahmed Shah said that infrastructure of Cardiac Department of Gulab Devi
Hospital has capacity to accommodate more patients therefore, the
infrastructure and the medical equipment of Cardiac Department would be
utilized to provide healthcare facilities to more cardiac patients. He said
that government would provide special funds for utilizing the services of human
resource and medical equipment of Gulab Devi Hospital. For this purpose,
referral system between PIC and Gulab Devi Hospital would be established. He further
said that a linkage would be established in all the public sector teaching
hospitals of Lahore where the cardiac treatment facilities are available. He said
that data sharing of patients and the number of available beds would be carried
out through this linkage system to accommodate maximum patients according to
the available space and facilities. Secretary Health directed that Cardiology
Departments of public sector teaching hospitals should be run according to
their capacity to reduce the patient load on the Punjab Institute of
Cardiology. On this occasion, Prof. Nadeem Hayat Malik informed that only in
emergency department of PIC more than 700 patients visit for their treatment
daily which include the patients referred from different hospitals of the city.

Directors Parks & Horticulture Authority has accorded an approval of
developmental project and to beautify aim to make Bahawalpur City more greenful
aesthetic and environmental friendly by allocating development funds to the
tune of Rs. 128 Million. The approval was accorded in the meeting of Board of
Directors Parks & Horticulture Authority in its annual meeting for granting
approval to annual development project schemes for the fiscal to 2016-17 here
today. Chair person Parks & Horticulture Authority and MPA Mian Muhammad
Shoaib awaisi presided over the meeting held in the conference room of DCO
Bahawalpur.

Shoaib Awaisi noted that PHA is playing a very vital and appreciable role for
improving Bahawalpur City's landscape by making its exit and entry points more
green and aesthetic. PHA's perspective is to raise shady trees in the park
would provide environment solace to the visitors of the parks.
Director General Parks and
Horticulture authority Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar briefed the meeting that a
public private partnership initiative is underway to make lush, green,
beautiful and attractive all parks, round abouts, green belts, triangular
plots, medians by the PHA. DG PHA Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar apprised the
meeting of that 2 food streets would also be established in the city. One of
them would be established at commercial area satellite town whereas the second
one site would be approved by the two members committee. The meeting also
approved installing of CCTV cameras at Mother-e-Millat Park satellite town and
lady's park near Saraiki Chowk. These two public places would also have new
barbed wire around its fore walls. Besides, the meeting also accorded approval
to fill vacant posts in PHA along with establishing PHA's nursery along with
Canal near Airport.
Deputy Secretary, Housing,
Moazzam Jameel briefed the meeting that one percent developmental budget of
Bahawalpur city has been allocated for the development projects of PHA. The
board of Directors meeting was given a detailed briefing regarding financial
allocation of various projects which include:- Beautification and landscaping
projects of Multan Chowk to Bahawalpur city along with Azam Chowk with Rs. 36 Million; and a project of
adventure park at Bahawalpur city with Rs. 30 Million; PHA's nursery project of
Rs. 10 million; children park in Bahawalpur city with Rs. 30 Million;
establishment of food street with Rs. 50 million and parking shed for tractor
and water bowser with Rs. 7 million.

Commemorative ceremony held to mark the 18th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer

commemorative ceremony to mark the 18th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer was held
at the residence of MPA Fouzia Ayub Qureshi. The ceremony was attended by a
large number of political workers.
While speaking as a chief guest
MPA Fouzia Ayub Qureshi maintained that Prime Minister's bold, courageous and
historic act to make Pakistan the 7th Nuclear power of the world has made
Pakistan's defense capability solid and strong.
She highly appreciated the Prime
Minister Nawaz Sharif's courageous act to safe guard mother land's vital
interest by detonating nuclear bomb some 18 years ago. Ceremony was also
addressed by Kosar Perveen; Siraj Bibi; Aneela; Ghazala; Nadeem; Humaira Bibi
and Safia Suleman.

different wards of the hospital.
He also inspected central air conditioning plant of the hospital.

directed Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital that both air
conditioning
system and lift system should remain fully operational to facilitate the

Azeem Bakhish convicted by Anti-Terrorism Court Bahawalpur
BAHAWALPUR(PR) Judge Anti-Terrorism Court
Bahawalpur Mr.Khalid Arshed has convicted an accused Azeem Bakhish Son of
Ghulam Nabi by awarding death penalty on two accounts along with imposing a
fine to the Tune of Rs.5 lakh. Anti-Terrorism Court Judge has also ordered to
the accused to pay Rs.5 lakh as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased
in case of failure to pay the fine the culprit would have to undergo one year
imprisonment.
The
accused was booked by police station Head Rajkan Tehsil Yazman on 11th may 2015
by registering a criminal case against him under FIR No.66/2015 dated 12-5-2015
under offence punishable under section 302/336-B/34 PPC read with section 7(c) and 7(a)/21(I)
Anti-terrorism Act,1997. He was booked for throwing Aced on his Wife who ultimately
died.

that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif bold and visionary act to make
Pakistan a nuclear state made its defense invincible. "Some 18 years ago
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif courageous decision to detonate 6 nuclear devices
placed Pakistan as the first nuclear power of Muslim Ummah". He made these
remarks while addressing participants of a commemorative ceremony to celebrate
the 18th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer at his residence.
The ceremony was attended among
others MPAs: - Fouzia Ayub Qureshi; Hasina Naaz; Abdul Khaliq Qureshi;
prominent persons and party workers.
Minister Baleegh-ur-Rehman further
said that keeping in view "the geo strategic security environment of our
region the nuclear capability mitigated the traditional security imbalance by
factoring in nuclear capability of Pakistan has created a solid insurmountable both strategic and
tactical parity in our region". Minister paid rich tribute to the visionary
leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif who preferred to
"safeguard" the vital national interest of the Pakistani state by
ignoring all political; diplomatic and financial pressures exerted by the
global powers. Minister emphasized upon all segments of society to come forward
and play their constructive and positive role to make and egalitarian society
and state. He was confident that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's vision of making
Pakistan a rising star of Asia would turn into reality when multifaceted
undergoing socio-economic development projects would get completed.

Salman Rafiq has said that strict action as per law will be taken against those
creating hurdles in the treatment of patients, compelling nurses for strike,
bringing out forcibly from wards and involving in ghundaism in government
hospitals.
He expressed these views while presiding over a
joint meeting of Principals Government Medical Colleges, Medical Superintendents
and Nursing Superintendents of teaching and autonomous hospitals. Secretary
Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah, Special
Secretary Heath Dr. Sajid Chohan, senior officers of Health Department and principals
of all medical colleges were present on the occasion. Kh. Salman Rafiq said
that government has already paid full attention to the welfare of nurses and
resolving their problems and their genuine issues will be addressed in future
as well. He said that nurses are the backbone in healthcare system. He said
that besides promotion of nurses to next grade, Health Department has created
hundreds of new vacancies. He said that besides salary, special allowance of
10000 rupees is also being given to nurses of 16 grade. He said that all the
problems can be resolved amicably and strike and protest are no solution to
problems. He said that no one will be allowed to deteriorate the environment of
the hospitals and medical institutions. Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical
Education Najam Ahmed Shah said that merit will be upheld in Health Department and
government will not compromise on merit at any cost. He said that those trying
to ruin the system will be dealt with strictly. Najam Ahmed Shah said that
doors of his office are open for doctors and nurses and they can contact him to
resolve their problems without any hurdle. Secretary Health said that our aim
is to ensure provision of treatment facilities to the patients for which all
out steps are being taken.
Punjab government has
accorded formal approval to Ramazan Package:Bilal Yasin
LAHORE(By our Bureau Chief)Provincial Minister for Food and Chairman Cabinet
Price Control Committee, Bilal Yasin has said that Punjab government has
accorded formal approval to Ramazan Package. Under this package, edible items
will be provided to the people at cheaper rates with the subsidy of five billion
rupees during Ramazan Mubarak, he added. He said that Ramazan Bazaars are being
held from June 3. As many as 330 Ramazan Bazaars will be set up daily at
district an tehsil level throughout the province. Daily use items will be available
to the people from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm in these bazaars, he added.
He expressed these views while talking to different
delegations of the people of his constituency.
The Minister informed the meeting that Rs. 250 million have been allocated for setting
up of agriculture fare price shops during Ramazanul Mubarak all over the
province. He said that 2000 Madni Dastarkhawans will also be set up for
deserving persons. He said that 2000 price control magistrates will perform
their duty during Ramazanul Mubarak. Bilal Yasin further informed that government is
also setting up 25 Model Bazaars. During
Ramazan, subsidy will be given on 19 eatable items, he added. He said that 10
kg green flour bag will be available for Rs. 290, 10 kg orange flour bag for
Rs. 310 and 20 kg orange flour bag for Rs.620. He said that 20000 metric ton sugar
will be provided in Ramazan Bazaars which will be available for Rs. 10 per kg
less than market rate. Similarly, ghee/oil will be available for Rs. 10 less
per kg than market rate, eggs five rupees less per dozen and chicken will be
available for Rs. 10 less per kg. Pulses and gram flour will also be available
at less rate than market. He told that utility stores will also be set up in
Ramzan Bazaars. He said that foolproof security measures will be taken for the
protection of life and property of the people in Ramazan Bazaars. Special staff
of police department will be deputed in Ramazan Bazaars, he added.
Shahar Bano, a second year student of Nursing School has received first Asma Kanwal Shaheed Gold Medal

has received first Asma Kanwal Shaheed Gold Medal from Principal Post
Graduate Medical Institute and LGH, Prof. Khalid Mahmood in a special function
held at LGH in this connection. Other students of first, second and third
years with extraordinary performances were also awarded during the event which
was attended by DG Nursing Punjab Nusrat Saeeda, MS LGH Dr. Niaz Ahmed, Controller
Nursing Punjab Zubaida Sawar Khan, former Principal Postgraduate College of
Nursing Ishrat Ishaq, Raeesa Ishtiaq, Farhat Mahboob, Razia Bano,
administrative doctors and a large number of nurses from various hospitals of
the city. The principal also appreciated the nurse students for showing
brilliant results in the nursing examination and gave away medals to Saba
Zulfiqar, Ismant Fatima, Iqra, Safia, Shahr Bano, Lubna Shafqat, Benish Latif,
Aqsa Khalid, Shamsa Muneer and Asima Fareed.
Addressing the participants of the function, Prof. Khalid Mahmood said
that efforts of Principal Nursing School Raeesa Ishtiaq and all the instructors
are laudable as they produced such a best result. He said that a teacher
deserves great respect and honour in our society as it is the teacher who
develops leadership qualities among the students and helps them to excel in
their relevant field. Teacher is also called spiritual father of the students
according to our values and hence has a right to be evaluated with great regards
and salute, he said.
The Principal also termed the role of nurses as pivotal one in the system of
health care and said that they are symbols of hope and health for the ailing
humanity. Prof. Khalid Mahmood also applauded the revolutionary steps taken by Punjab
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for improvement in working conditions and rise in
salaries of nurses. He stressed upon the nurses to further improve their
education and training to add their efficiency and working capacity in profession
so as to face the challenges of modern day nursing. He hoped that nurses would
follow the role model of Asma Kanwal and by virtue of their commitment and
passion for their profession, they will earn laurel for their parents and
teachers. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendant Farhat Mahboob
thanked for providing proper facilities to nurses by Punjab Government as
well as the hospital. She resolved to continue with the same spirit and passion
for the welfare of nurses.
