Bahawalpur (PR) Dr. Malik M. Saad Missan, Assistant Professor, Department
of Computer Science & IT, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has won Pakistan-France
joint research project Worth Rs. 4 million. The project is jointly offered by
the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Ministry of Higher Education
France. This research grant has been awarded under a joint research project
titled “An Intelligent Collaborative Platform for Learning Writing under the
HEC PERIDOT Research Program 2016”. Under this program three PhD students will
also get the chance of working in French laboratories and similarly,
researchers for France will visit the Islamia University of Bahawalpur

Engineer Baligh-ur-Rehman has said that Government of Punjab's modern and
progressive initiative to operationlize the Front Desks at the Police Stations
would transform centuries old "THANA CULTURE" which would meet the
new requirements of community policing.
The Front Desks would not only dispose of the
complaints and grievances of the citizens speedily but they would also promote
people friendly police culture which would further bring citizens and police
close together. He made these remarks while inspecting the working of front
desk at Police Station KOTWALI, Bahawalpur City.
On this occasion Regional Police Officer Dr. Ehsan
Sadiq; Additional SP Ghulam Murtza; Convener Citizen Police Liaison Committee Dr.
Rana Muhammad Tariq; Members of CPLC which include:- Atif Aziz; Mian Shahid
Iqbal; Jamshaid Kareem Khan; Javed Iqbal Chaudhry; Naseer Hashmi and Shahab
Rehmani were also present.
During his visit at the Front Desk a police station
assistant briefed the Minister of state Engineer Baligh-ur-Rehman regarding
functioning of the Front Desk.
Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Dr. Ehsan Sadiq
while speaking on the occasion said that as many as 210 Police Stations in the
Punjab Province have the facility of Front Desks. He further said that a total
sum of 15 Front Desks have started functioning in Bahawalpur region which
include:- 5 in Bahawalpur City and 10 in district Rahim Yar Khan.
"Front Desks initiative is a solid; progressive
and humane intervention to mitigate the trust deficit between police and
citizens. It would accelerate the pace of modernizing the conceptual and
operational framework of Police to expedite redressal of grievances and
complaints of the citizens", Regional Police Officer said.
He further said that the process of computerization of
the record of Police Stations is underway and these would be available online
very soon.
Later, Minister of state Engineer Baligh-ur-Rehman and
Regional Police Officer Dr. Ehsan Sadiq visited different sections of the Police
Station.

flood fighting arrangements in irrigation zone Bahawalpur. He maintained that
flood fighting material has been made available and stored at different dykes,
which include: - Head Islam; Melsi saifan and Head Panjnad works. He further
said that different steps have been taken regarding flood fighting measures
which include: - Strengthening of vulnerable portions of Minchanabad and Head
Panjnad dykes; provision of engine propelled 3 boats at Head Islam; Head
Panjnad and Melsi Saifan.
