BAHAWALPUR(PR)Provincial Minister for Co-operative Malik Muhammad Iqbal
Channer has said that Punjab Government has earmarked a total sum of rupees 5
billion for promoting sports culture across the province. The 5 billion rupees
sports fund is aimed to modernize the sports infrastructure by allocating
rupees 3 billion for the ongoing schemes while 2 billion rupees would be spend
for launching new sports development schemes during the current fiscal year
2016-17. He made these remarks while speaking as a Chief Guest at the opening
ceremony of divisional cricket tournament organized by Sada Bahar cricket
control board Sahlaan markaz, here, at Bahawalpur.
"Modern sports play vital role initiating energetic
enthusiastic and balanced physical and spiritual faculties of the youth which
enable them to play their constructive role in establishing a progressive
society", he said.
Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer further maintained that
government of Punjab has launched a comprehensive program to establish state of
the art sports infrastructure at tehsil; district and provincial level which
provide to our youth modern facilities to further sharpen their talent in
different sports activities.
While spread sports activities engaged our youth in healthy;
constructive and positive physical activities which serve as a vital socializational
instrument which prepared them to face challenges of real life with grace;
dignity and fortitude. Therefore Chief Minister Punjab developmental vision
attached pivotal significance to incorporate promotion of sports culture for
creating balanced and healthy society.
Government of Punjab has also launched a new initiative of
establishing electronic libraries in 6 far-flung areas of the province which
include:- Bahawalpur; Bhakar; Sahiwal; Dera Ghazi Khan; Muzaffar Garh and Rahim
yar khan.
The opening ceremony was attended by officials of cricket
control board Sahlaan Markar; Chairman union council Bilal Baluch; political and
social personalities; sports celebrities; youth and a large number of cricket
fans.

Channer has expressed great sorrow and grief over the sad demise of great philanthropist
and social worker Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi while presiding over a condolence
meeting held at his residence, here, today.
The condolence meeting was attended by a large number of
political and social personalities.
Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer paid rich tribute to
the glorious services of Late Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi who dedicated his whole
life to the noble cause of humanism. He said that the demise of Mr. Abdul
Sattar Edhi is a great loss for Pakistan which has lost its one of the
brightest and noblest son of soil who earned great honour and grace for the
motherland at the international level.
He prayed to the almighty Allah for the eternal peace of the
departed soul. He also prayed to the almighty Allah to give fortitude to the heirs
of his family to bear this irreparable loss.

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar paid a surprise
visit to check security arrangements at different public places of Bahawalpur City.
He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur city Rao Tasleem
Akhter.
During his visit to check security arrangements Commissioner
Bahawalpur visited Bahawalpur zoo; Ladies Park; Chowk Saraiki; Daewoo terminal
and dring stadium. He thoroughly inspected the operational status of installed
walk through gates; CCTV cameras and application of metal detectors for
security surveillance at these public places and bus terminal.
On this occasion Commissioner admonished the administrative
and security officials of the Daewoo terminal for inadequate and improper
security arrangements at Daewoo terminal. He directed them to pay special
attention for stringent security surveillance of the passengers and cargo to
ensure fool proof security both of the passengers and the bus terminal. He
warned that strict action would be initiated against the violators of
government of Punjab's approved standard operational procedure regarding
security arrangements.

has said that reoperationalization of 136 years old historic fountain at the
centre of Bahawalpur city is a practical manifestation of a systematic and
comprehensive development progress to restore and renovate the cultural
heritage of Bahawalpur. He made these remarks during a visit of "CHOWK
FAWARA" . He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner
Bahawalpur city Rao Tasleem Akhter and Tehsil Municipal Officer Bahawalpur city
Arshad Ghumman.
District Co-ordination Officer said that this historic
fountain has century's old aesthetic and architectural worth which has provided
entertainment to the residents during this long period of time.
"A gift from Queen VICTORIA to Ameer of Bahawalpur
measuring 10 feet height was transported from London to Sadiq Garh Palace
Ahmadpur East where it was initially installed but was later shifted at his
present location Fawara Chowk on the instruction of Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad
Khan Abbasi the 5th", DCO maintained.
He further said that the residents of Bahawalpur have special
emotional attachment with this historical monument and its renovation and
beautification through modern illumination techniques by using L.E.D lights has
further enhance its architectural grace and glory.

BAHAWALPUR(PR)Divisional Emergency Officer Dr. Asif Rahim Channer has said
that rescue 1122 Bahawalpur's control room received as many as 3672 telephone
calls on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitar out of which 263 pertain to emergency
attention.
He made these remarks while presiding over a meeting here at
his office.
He said that rescue 1122 provided assistance to 102 road
accidents; 116 cases of medical sickness; 12 of quarrels; 4 regarding fire eruption
and 20 concerning miscellaneous emergencies.
