NO DENGUE PATIENT SO FAR REPORTED IN LAHORE---NO SUCH PATIENT
ADMITTED IN ANY GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL IN THE PROVINCE: SPOKESMAN

spokesman of Health Department has said that satisfactory arrangements for the
treatment of dengue patients are available in the government hospitals however,
no dengue patient has so far been reported in Lahore. Moreover, at present no
such patient is admitted in any government hospital in the province.
While
commenting on the news published in a section of a press regarding the
non-availability of treatment facilities for dengue patients in government
hospitals, the spokesman clarified that Cabinet Committee on Dengue is
regularly meeting every ten days which is chaired by the Advisor on Health Kh.
Salman Rafique. Similarly, meetings of Town Response Committees are also being
held on regular basis. During the Cabinet Committee meetings all the measures
regarding dengue control as well as arrangements for the treatment of dengue
patients in government hospitals are reviewed in detail and special focus
always be given on ensuring treatment facilities for the patients.
The
spokesman further said that Dengue Experts Advisory Group (DEAG) headed by Vice
Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Faisal Masood has imparted
training to the doctors and nurses regarding case management of dengue
patients. He said that DEAG has arranged training at divisional as well as
district level to the doctors posted in public sector hospitals in the dengue
wards. The spokesman further said that dengue wards and High Dependency Units
(HDUs) are available in the hospitals and whenever dengue patients would be
brought to the hospitals best treatment facilities would be ensured to the
patients.
