BAHAWALPUR(PR)Minister of State for Higher education and Interior, Engineer
Baligh-ul-Rehman has said that State Of The Art University of science and
technology would be established soon in Bahawalpur. This modern university
would have a solid and coherent intellectual infra-structure to meet the
futuristic requirements in the fields of science and technology. He made these
remarks while presiding over a high level meeting in the conference room of
Commissioner Bahawalpur to review the arrangements for establishing science and
Technology University at Bahawalpur. The meeting was attended by
Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar, DCO Bahawalpur Dr. Ehtisham Anwer
Mahaar, Director higher education commission Dr. Mazhar Hussain, Tariq Iqbal,
Muhammad Ghazanfar, Principal of engineering college Dr. Muhammad Amjad,
Director Development and planning Saqib Ali Ateel, Assistant Commissioner
General Syed Waseem Hassan, Director Board of governors MEPCO Mian Shahid Iqbal
and other officers and officials of the concerned departments.
"To impart modern scientific knowledge department of
higher education has devised a vibrant strategy which is aimed to lay a solid
intellectual scientific infra-structure which would sharpen the pace of
scientific acculturation in the country", Minister of State Engineer
Baligh-ur-Rehman maintained.
State Minister further said that modern scientific faculties
would also be established at the proposed university which would cater the
futuristic demands dictated by the socio economic forces of the market based
economy.
"Faculties of Bahawalpur Science and Technology
University would bring modern knowledge and technology at the door steps of the
students which is practical reflection of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz
Sharif's commitment and dedication to provide modern facilities to the residents
of the far flung areas", He noted.
State Minister urged upon the concerned officials to sharpen
the pace of development work for turning the vision of establishing modern
science university into a living reality.
Earlier, Commissioner Bahawalpur Saqib Zafar said that
Bahawalpur has always been celebrating its glorious and shining cultural and
intellectual heritage which would be further enhanced by the operationalization
of the modern Science and Technology University. He vowed that all resources would
be mobilized to rapidly complete this project within the stipulated period of
its completion.
Later, DCO Bahawalpur Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar briefed the
meeting about the proposed location for the university and proposed to
establish solar energy department in the university.
While briefing in the meeting Director higher education
commission Dr. Mazhar Hussain maintained that the charter of approval from the
government of Punjab would be approved soon and classes would be
operationalized in the next academic year.

"Punjab Government's effective and result oriented
strategy to eliminate the role of middle man through institutional intervention
for marketing the sale of cholistani wool has effectively served to protect the
economic rights of the cholistani people", Provincial Minister Malik
Muhammad Iqbal Channer noted.
He further said that Punjab Government was mobilizing all
available resources to protect the animals of Cholistani species through
extending wide ranging veterinary facilities for better treatment of the cholistani
live stock. "Through merit based balloting process government has been
distributing free of cost cholistani live stock to the deserving people of the
cholistani area", he said.
Provincial Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer further
maintained that solid measures would be initiated to retrieve the land of
Cholistan cooperative wool development and marketing union limited from the
land grabbers.
Parliamentary secretary for irrigation and vice chairman
Cholistan cooperative wool development and marketing union limited MPA Khalid
Mahmood Jajja maintained that the special camps were being organized to promote
the culture of collecting wool from the Cholistani live stock owners in a
planned manner. He further said that the members of Cholistan cooperative wool
development and marketing union limited were also provided soft loans to
purchase sheep. This loan is recovered in a period of five years.
"To promote live stock in Cholistan is a visionary
initiative of Chief Minister Punjab which is aimed to bring prosperity for the
Cholistani people", He maintained.
BWMC collected and dumped around two thousand tons of garbage of the sacrificial animals on Eid
BAHAWALPUR(PR)Bahawalpur Waste Management Company collected and dumped
around two thousand tons of garbage of the sacrificial animals by mobilizing
the services of more than 900 sanitary workers and the other relevant staff
during the three day cleanliness drive on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha in Bahawalpur
City. This was stated by Assistant Manager Communication Bahawalpur Waste
Management Company, Syed Ahsan Raza.
"Bahawalpur Waste Management Company distributed more
than 60 thousand waste collecting plastic bags along-with 2 lakh and 50
thousand public awareness pamphlets through its door to door campaign in the
Bahawalpur city", He noted.
"Bahawalpur Waste Management Company also established 25
Eid camps where sanitary inspectors and sanitary workers of respective Union
Councils were perform their duties to keep their areas clean and tidy", He
further maintained.
"Managing Director Bahawalpur Waste Management Company
Naeem Akhter inspected the Eid camps to monitor the performance of the sanitary
workers. The offices of Bahawalpur Waste Management Company remained open and
the whole staff remained on duties during Eid-ul-Azha holidays", He said.
BOR
TO RECOMMEND DISCIPLINARY ACTION AGAINST
LAXITY
SHOWING REVENUE OFFICERS
LAHORE(PR)Board of Revenue (BOR) Punjab has decided to
recommend disciplinary action against the revenue officers found showing laxity
towards deciding revenue judicial cases of overseas Pakistanis, according to
timeline given by the BOR. This was decided in a meeting held between
Commissioner, Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab Afzaal Bhatti and
Senior Member BOR Jawad Rafique Malik here today. Director General OPC Hassan
Iqbal, Director Revenue, Ishrat Niazi as well as concerned officers of OPC and
BOR were also present on the occasion. Commissioner OPC Afzaal Bhatti said that
role of BOR and revenue officers at the district level is of great
importance for prompt disposal of revenue judicial cases pertaining to overseas
Pakistanis; and added that BOR should therefore extend its fullest cooperation
in deciding these cases. SMBR said that explicit instructions had already been
issued to revenue officers of the entire province for early disposal of cases
of overseas Pakistanis. However, performance of some districts staff is not up
to the mark. It was also decided in the meeting that BOR would send a formal
request to Chief Secretary to hold Commissioners and DCOs conference of poor
performing districts. SMBR also gave instructions to Chief Settlement
Commissioner and other officials of different districts for timely disposal of
such cases. Matters pertaining to
verification of power of attorneys of overseas Pakistanis from Embassies and
High Commissions also came under discussion during the meeting.
