PEF students
reached to 2.5 million-Tariq Mahmood
LAHORE(PR)The total number of male and female students enrolled in different
private schools partnering with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has reached
to 2.5 million. These students are enrolled in thousands of partner schools
working in all the districts of the province. It has helped the poor and needy students
to continue their education, through the platform of PEF, without any financial
burden.
Managing Director PEF Tariq Mahmood said this while presiding
over weekly coordination meeting at his office on Thursday. Deputy Managing
Directors, Program Directors and concerned officials attended the meeting. The meeting
held a detailed review of different PEF funded programs for the free schooling of
low income families in the province. The meeting expressed the satisfaction that
PEF has helped the needy communities by opening the doors of education to their
children so that they can grow and excel through this educational opportunity.
MD PEF Tariq Mahmood directed that partner schools should ensure
proper schooling infrastructure so that the students could study in congenial
atmosphere. They should also involve the students in different co-curricular
activities for positive grooming of their personality. He said that private
schools enrolling verified students, belonging to brick-kiln families, should contact
the foundation for arranging their free education through the PEF funded
vouchers scheme. For this purpose, the school education department’s EDOs
should inform such schools in their districts, so that the free education of
such students could continue, he added. He further said the school owners should
ensure that students’ record is properly maintained and regularly updated in
PEF’s Student Information System; and added that CNICs of students’ parents should
also be entered correctly. Different Program Directors also spoke on the occasion.
