Bahawalpur ( PR): A seminar was held to commemorate 139th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor presided the seminar while Prof Dr Khwaja Muhammad Zakariya Professor Emeritus, University of the Punjab, Lahore and ex principal Oriental College delivered exclusive address on this occasion. Prof Dr Khwaja Muhammad Zakariya has also served as Chairman Urdu department and dean faculty of arts at the Zakariya Uniersity Multan. He has also served in foreign Universities of China and Japan. Government of Pakistan bestowed him “Tamgha e Husne Karkardagi” in recognition of his services for the promotion of Urdu language and literature in 2011.In his extensive lecture , Prof Zakariya said that Allama Iqbal thought about reasons of decline of Muslim Ummah and suggested ways for revival of Muslim. He was of the view that Ummah should get rid of blindly believing in destiny stopping practical action and rediscover their potential to rule the world. He said that human being can become ‘’Mard-e- Momin or Superman” if he has full control over himself. He also stressed on fulfilling basic human necessities as well as education and training of the masses for an active and prosperous society. He advised students to read Urdu and Persian poetry as well as prose of Allama Iqbal if they want to understand Iqbaliat in true letter and spirit. On this occasion, the parliamentarians , Members National Assembly Begum Parveen Masood Bhatti and Sabiha Nazir , members provincial assembly Fauzia Ayub Qureshi and Hasina Begum, dignitaries Tabish Alvari , Malik Habibullah Bhutta , representatives of civil society and media praised efforts of Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq Vice Chancellor for starting extensive lecture series of Khutbat-e-Bahawalpur level which were delivered in historic Ghulam Muhammad Ghotvi Hall during early 80s .They also appreciated the renovation, upgradation and revival of the grandeur of the historic Ghotvi Hall.
